The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that states are allowed to count mail-in ballots that arrive after Election Day, provided they are postmarked on or before Election Day. In Watson v. Republican National Committee, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett authored the majority opinion in a 5-4 ruling that allows states to count late-arriving mail-in ballots as long as they are postmarked by Election Day.
