This holiday season when many of us will be indulging in some type of potent potable, led me to this episode’s trivia question.  “This nocturnal phrase is used to describe illegally processed alcohol that helped give birth to one of the most popular sports in America.” The answer to the trivia question is “moonshine”. The history of “moonshine” is intimately tied to the history of America. And while its roots are from Scotland and Ireland, its legacy is strictly American and will forever be linked to its culture, music, and folklore. There’s so much to unpack here, from its history to its link to a uniquely American tradition all the way to the current landscape of modern craft distilleries.
