Over The Type A Creative

What is the Type A Creative? I'm so glad you asked! The Type A Creative is a podcast for driven creatives. For a long time, when I thought of the word “artist” I usually thought of a painter — someone floaty and magical, absorbed in their own world of art. But, I’m not like that. Yes, I’m a writer and designer. But I’ve got a business brain and some monster-sized ambition to match. For years I’ve been running a business and building a career around my creative skills. But now, I’m also working to cultivate a creative practice that's not necessarily for sale, for a client, or to fulfill some ambition. I'm out to have some "creativity for keeps." As driven people, we often have a hard time believing this kind of creativity is "worth it." We sneakily talk ourselves into thinking it has to turn into a business, otherwise, it's indulgent, or simply not worth our time. I'm looking for a bit of inner peace between my driven entrepreneur and my inner artist. My question for myself, and hopefully all of you is, "How do we balance a life where we want BOTH? Both creativity and art, but also big career goals?" In this podcast, I talk to people who are starting new creative projects, have thriving creative projects, and have conversations with a rotating cast of my smart friends — from fellow bosses to creative directors and working writers, filmmakers, and artist. Together we have conversations about what it is to be both Type A and creative.

Submit for Season 3 Today!

For season 3 of The Type A Creative, we are creating a creative mixtape and we want you, the listener, on the show! Are you a writer, poet, singer/songwriter, a podcaster, a playwright, or a visual artist? We want to interview you about your art & feature your art!   Our theme for the season comes from the Dandelion card of the Fleurot deck and is all about mystery, subconscious, dreams, and illusion. Some ideas that come to mind on this topic include, learning in the darkness of night, truths that you weren’t aware of that were inside of you, exploring the shadow side of certain feelings, and universal feelings as a part of the human experience. What do these thoughts and ideas spark inside of you? Do you have existing art that fits into one of these ideas? We want you to submit your work -- it can be dark & serious or light & playful!   Please submit your work at the http://www.thetypeacreative.com/submit by February 8th! Email jenni@thetypeacreative.com with any questions. About The Type A Creative Podcast: The Type A Creative is for those of us who feel like walking juxtapositions. You know who you are. You can balance spreadsheets just as easily as you can design a logo. Sometimes it’s a little disorienting because you’re a left-brain / right-brain blend that doesn’t always fit into the labels of “artist” or “numbers person.”   On the show we bring in fellow bosses, painters, creative directors, filmmakers, entrepreneurs, and writers — together we’re having conversations about what it is to be both Type A and Creative.   Don’t forget to rate & review The Type A Creative on iTunes,  join the Facebook group & follow Jenni on Instagram!

S3EP1: Join Our Creative Mix Tape

Welcome back to The Type A Creative & welcome to season three! I am so excited to be back in your earbuds after a long break. After doing about 50 episodes with tons of different artists across seasons 1 & 2, I started having this feeling that it was difficult to keep talking about the work without actually touching the work. With that in mind, I am partnering up with my friend, Nikki Bonsol, to co-host season three and we’re putting you, the listener, on the show to create a creative mixtape together! On this season opener, we are sharing the theme for this season’s creative mixtape, how to submit your work to be a part of the show, and what you have to look forward to on this season of The Type A Creative.   Are you an artist or a creative? Know someone creative? We want you on the show! We’re looking for writers, singers, songwriters, podcasters, poets, painters, artists, and graphic designers! If you’re interested, visit http://www.thetypeacreative.com/submit and get your submissions in before Friday, February 8th! Email jenni@thetypeacreative.com with any questions.
