Boundaries apply to both sides of the relationship between us and our adult children. Being a GenXer means your life is full of career, friends, hobbies, travel, and maybe even young children still at home. Sometimes, you can set boundaries without ever saying a word. Listen in.

Your Best Friend

When you have a strong relationship with your adult child, it's easier to communicate and maintain boundaries: Rule #1 is to embrace your child's spouse and respect their position in your child's life. This will help to reduce tension and create a stronger relationship. As GenXers, we were raised quite differently from our boomer parents which impacts our relationships with our adult children. We need to make sure that we communicate freely with our children so that they understand us and we can continue to have a strong relationship.
