When in Romans - How are we saved?

(Romans 1:16) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.   How Are We Saved? (Romans 3:23) For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God  (Romans 3:24) they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. 1. We Are Saved *Freely. 2. We Are Saved *Exclusively. (Romans 3:27-28) Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By one of works? No, on the contrary, by a law of faith. 28 For we conclude that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. (Philippians 3:4b-6) ...If anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5 circumcised the eighth day; of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; regarding the law, a Pharisee; 6 regarding zeal, persecuting the church; regarding the righteousness that is in the law, blameless. (Romans 4:3-5) For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness. 4 Now to the one who works, pay is not credited as a gift, but as something owed. 5 But to the one who does not work, but believes on him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited for righteousness. 3. We Are Saved *Completely. (Romans 5:1-2) Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 We have also obtained access through him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 4. We Are Saved *Securely. (Romans 5:8-10, 20) But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 How much more then, since we have now been justified by his blood, will we be saved through him from wrath. 10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life. 20 The law came along to multiply the trespass. But where sin multiplied, grace multiplied even more (John 10:28-29) I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.” (Matthew 28:18) Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

When in Romans -WHY DO WE NEED THE GOSPEL?

WHY DO WE NEED THE GOSPEL? Romans 1:1-2 – 1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, and set apart for the gospel of God 2 which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures  Gospel: εὐαγγέλιον — euangelion (yoo-ang-EL-ee-on) It means: Good News. Romans 1:3-5 – 3 concerning his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was a descendant of David, according to the flesh 4 and was appointed to be the powerful   Son of God according to the Spirit of holiness by the resurrection of the dead. 5 Through him we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the Gentiles, 1. EVERYONE IS *GUILTY. THE UNBELIEVER (Romans 1:18-32) Romans 1:21 – 21For though they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or show gratitude. Instead, their thinking became worthless, and their senseless hearts were darkened.  Romans 1:26-32 – 26 For this reason God delivered them over to disgraceful passions. Their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 The men in the same way also left natural relations with women and were inflamed in their lust for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the appropriate penalty of their error. 28 And because they did not think it worthwhile to acknowledge God, God delivered them over to a corrupt mind so that they do what is not right. 29 They are filled with all unrighteousness, evil, greed, and wickedness. They are full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, arrogant, proud, boastful,   inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 senseless, untrustworthy, unloving, and unmerciful. 32 Although they know God’s just sentence that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them, but even applaud, others who practice them. THE MORAL PERSON (Romans 2:1-16) Romans 2:1 – 1 Therefore, every one of you, who judges without excuse. For when you judge another, you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the same things. Romans 2:4 – 4 Or do you despise the riches of his kindness, restraint, and patience, not recognizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?  Romans 2:11 – 11 For there is no favoritism with God. THE RELIGIOUS PERSON (Romans 2:17-3:8) Romans 2:21 – "You who teach others — do you not teach yourself?" Romans 2:23 – "You who boast in the law — do you dishonor God by breaking it?" Romans 2:29 – “Circumcision is a matter of the heart” NO ONE IS EXEMPT (Romans 3:9-20) Romans 3:9-10 – 9 What then? Are we any better off? Not at all! For we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin, 10 as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one Romans 3:20 – 20 For no one will be justified in his sight by the works of the law, because the knowledge of sin comes through the law 2. THE GOSPEL *EMPOWERS EVERYONE WHO *BELIEVES Romans 1:16-17 – 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith.

No Apologies- The Church

No Apologies- The Church What is The Church Romans 12:4-5 “Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function, in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another.” -Jesus is the head of The Church -Believers are all parts of the body of Christ carrying out the mission of Christ Matthew 28:19-20 “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”” ‭‭ ‭‭ What The Church is not -A building(where a community of believers meets) -A name(Identifies a community of believers, but not The Church) What The Church is called to do….  Acts 2: 42-47 “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as any had need. Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.” ‭‭ -Devoted- to learning the Word and applying it to their lives -Held all things in common- their goals and desires were the same because of the devotion they had.  -They were selling their possessions and belongings…. Nothing was off limits, because nothing held more importance in their hearts than Gods instruction -Day by Day meeting TOGETHER and breaking bread in their homes…. Coming to church MATTERS and having community MATTERS -They were Generous and Grateful, this leads to favor and draws people to Jesus…  1. I can’t be The Church because of what I have done… No Excuses 2. I won’t be The Church because of what they have done… No Excuses 3. I won’t be The Church because of what The Church has done to me… No Excuses How am I supposed to live by “No Excuses”? Acts 7:54-56 “When they heard these things, they were enraged and gnashed their teeth at him. Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven. He saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. He said, “Look, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God! ”” ‭‭ https://linktr.ee/virtualvh [https://linktr.ee/virtualvh] We fix our eyes on Jesus Acts 7:59-60 “While they were stoning Stephen, he called out, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit! ” He knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them! ” And after saying this, he fell asleep.” ‭‭ When we fix our eyes on Jesus.. Love Conquers All Excuses

"Covering What I Can't Control" - Mason Harris

James 5:16b – … The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect. 1. *TEACH THEM TO *FEAR YOU. Proverbs 9:10 – 10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. 2. *SURROUND THEM WITH DIVINE *FAVOR Psalms 90:17 – 17Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish for us the work of our hands establish the work of our hands! 3. BRING *GODLY *INFLUENCES & FRIENDS INTO THEIR LIVES. 1 Corinthians 15:33 – 33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals. Proverbs 13:20 – 20 The one who walks with the wise will become wise, but a companion of fools will suffer harm. 4. HELP THEM TO *TRUST *YOU WITH THEIR LIVES AND *BE *SAVED! Philippians 2:12-13 – 12 Therefore, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, so now, not only in my presence but even more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God who is working in you both to will and to work according to his good purpose.
