Those connections helped give form to KindKeith’s most recent musical group Mockjaw.  KindKeith’s music, influenced by jazz and RnB, explores their emotions throughout different life experiences. For instance, the hardships they faced during jazz school, finding community as a Black Queer person, and the bliss of being in a better place towards the end of the pandemic. This is Dré’s Dispatch with Cloud Companion where we chat with Aaron Chávez (he/they) to discuss the themes and inspirations for the project.  Chavèz is a local artist in the Austin TX music scene and front person for Cloud Companion, a contemplative bedroom pop group. Chavèz takes inspiration from his sunroom where he enjoys the natural environment and contemplates ideas of ego, interconnection, and the everyday presence of being.  Cloud Companion’s live performance style is lighthearted and enjoys experimenting with more immersive and interactive elements that suit the naturalistic themes of its music.  Chavèz is also a member of TC superstar, Flyer Club and cofounder of Flyer Club Records alongside a friend, Connor McCambell.
