Someone recently asked me to explain the meaning of spirituality. It has become a massive buzzword lately, with everyone claiming to be involved in it. Yet, despite this trend, most people are not actually Zen at all. We need to demystify this topic and put it into simple terms without any fluff. You Are Not Your Labels The first step in this process is getting to know your spirit. Throughout life, the world places layers upon us through parenting, schooling, and societal norms. To find your true self, you have to peel back those layers to see who you were before the world changed you. You are not what you do. You are not who you were born to. You are not your education, wealth, fame, friends, home, or your car. When you strip away all the expectations of the material world, what remains is your spirit. What Spirituality is NOT There are many misconceptions about what makes someone spiritual. Here is what it is not: * It is not a checklist of activities: Reading books, walking in nature, occasionally doing yoga, or attending a retreat are great tools, but they are not the end goal. They are simply scenic routes. * It is not a temporary feeling: It does not count if you feel good during meditation but spend the rest of the day angry at your neighbors or annoyed by your coworkers. * It is not an emotional roller coaster: Swinging between super high highs and crashing lows depletes your energy. True spirituality energizes you. The Reason You Attract Difficult People True growth requires serious introspection and the ability to be challenged without getting defensive. Every experience is designed to lead us toward our core purpose. For example, if you constantly attract toxic people, there is usually a deeper reason. Deep down, your soul might want to love and nurture others, but you have a block that stops you from communicating effectively. The universe will continue to send tough people your way to force you to learn compassion and how to express your truth with love. When you do the internal work to heal and understand this, you stop repeating the same frustrating cycles. You can finally answer the question “I am” with absolute clarity and ease. aflevering What If This Is Happening For You? artwork

What If This Is Happening For You?

Have you ever felt completely stuck? Like no matter what you do, you can’t seem to get ahead. And every time you try to figure out why, you end up more frustrated than when you started. I’ve been there too. For a long time, I was asking all the wrong questions. Why is this happening to me? When am I finally going to catch a break? Why doesn’t anyone get what I’m going through? Those questions feel valid. They feel like the natural response to struggle. But here’s what I didn’t see at the time: they were keeping me locked in place. Victim mode. Every single time. And victim mode only ever leads to more suffering. The one thing I changed The turning point didn’t come from working harder or pushing through. It came from changing one thing. Just one. The question. Instead of why is this happening to me, I started asking, what if this is happening for me? And what clues am I missing? That’s it. That one reframe changed everything. Suddenly I wasn’t a prisoner anymore. I was a player. A willing participant in my own life. And instead of banging on the walls waiting to be rescued, I started scanning the room for the clues that were already there. The clues were there the whole time I used to be a chronic people pleaser. I wanted to do everything for everyone, just to be liked, just to be accepted. So I overthought everything. If someone said something even mildly off to me, I’d replay it forever. As a mom, I second-guessed myself constantly. I had no experience. I always landed on the same thought: I’m not a good enough mom. I could be doing better. One day a friend was visiting and I made a sly little comment about it, not really saying it directly. She looked at me and said, “Are you crazy? If I was half as good a mom as you, I’d be thrilled with myself.” It stopped me. This was a friend working full time, struggling to find time for her kids, carrying her own guilt. Her view of my motherhood was completely different from my own. And it made me look at the evidence more clearly. I wasn’t a bad mom. I just wasn’t looking for the clues that said so. I was only collecting evidence of how I was failing. Not the proof of everything I was doing right. Then something interesting happened. One clue led to another. And another. Before long, I didn’t have enough evidence to support the story I’d been telling myself. The patterns start to repeat After moving through a few of life’s escape rooms, I started noticing patterns. The same kinds of clues. The same traps. The same moment where people get close to the exit and give up right before they find it. I had a client who dreaded every tough meeting. “It’s going to be awful. I’m going to do terribly.” So I asked him to look for the clues. Think about all the meetings you’ve failed in. How often have you actually seen evidence of that? He couldn’t come up with many. Because he wasn’t bad at meetings. He held his own. He spoke up. He got his point across. What was getting him wasn’t the meeting. It was the anxiety of walking in unprepared, telling him a story that wasn’t true. Another client was raising teenagers. (If you’ve got teens, you know.) She kept saying her kids were out to press her buttons, trying to make her crazy on purpose. So I asked her: do you really think your teenagers wake up every morning planning how to make you feel like the worst mom on earth? “Whoa,” she said. “No. That’s not what’s happening.” Then we looked at the clues. If her kid was struggling with homework, maybe that said more about him than about her. If the room was always messy, maybe there was something underneath it that had nothing to do with making her mad. So many times we skip the evidence in front of us. We make an assumption, and the assumption makes us feel worse, and we never go back to check if it was even true. Here’s what I want you to take with you Stop treating your struggles like solitary confinement, like you’ve been locked away and your only option is to wait it out. Start treating them like escape rooms. Because in an escape room, nothing is random. Nothing is permanent. Every weird detail, every frustrating dead end, every moment that makes no sense, it’s all part of the puzzle. Your life works the same way. And just like in an escape room, when you can’t figure it out, there’s a call button. Someone outside can see what you can’t, and they’ll help you. In life, that’s what a coach is. Someone who can see the patterns faster than you can, because they’re not standing inside your problem. I work with clients all the time who can’t see their own patterns. They’re too close. But coming in with a bird’s eye view and less emotional attachment, I can spot the clues much faster. You don’t have to suffer through that time in your life’s escape room. Save the suffering for the fun ones. One question to sit with I’ll leave you with this, and I’d genuinely love for you to sit with it. What escape room are you navigating right now? Not vague. Specific. What’s the situation, the pattern, the wall you keep hitting? Is it something at work you can’t get past? A relationship that’s gone toxic and you can’t find the way out? Your health, the same things recurring with no clear reason? Our systems are all connected. Mind, body, soul. And once you start seeing the clues, life gets easier, because you train your brain to spot them faster the next time around. So whatever your escape room looks like, know this: you’re not alone in it. And you can ask for help. You can start by pressing the call button. Until next time, stay aligned. The Identity You Built To Survive Isn’t The Real You

If I were to ask you, right now, “Who are you?” What is the very first thing you would say? I know how most of us answer. We list our qualifications. We list our titles. Mother. Wife. Daughter. Doctor. Lawyer. Coach. We become so deeply entangled in the roles we play for other people that we forget what it feels like to just be ourselves. We wear these titles like a mask, and for a long time, the mask works. It keeps us safe. It keeps us successful on paper. But there is a moment usually quiet, often exhausting when everything you’ve been pushing away finally asks to be seen. You realize that despite doing everything “right,” you feel completely disconnected from the person underneath it all. You find yourself thinking: I want to feel free. Not performing. Just… me. I want you to know that you are not broken for feeling this way. Your inner knowing is just trying to get your attention. Transformation isn’t about becoming someone new, or adding another impressive title to your resume. You don’t become someone new, you return to who you already are, without the noise. This is where the work begins: Peel, We look beneath the titles. What is actually underneath the mask you’ve been carrying? Feel, We create space to actually feel the exhaustion of performing for so long. Heal, From that open, honest place, we move forward. When we are aligned in our head, heart, and gut, we attract—not chase—a deep sense of purpose. We don’t have to force an identity. We just get to exist in our own truth. You deserve to show your authentic self to the world. But more importantly, you deserve to show her to yourself. With so much love and light, Chitra P.S. Demystifying Meditation: Finding Your Zen Without Sitting Still

Today, I am going to share something that might surprise you: you do not need traditional meditation to find your Zen. In fact, for a lot of people, the act of meditating is exactly what makes them feel like they are failing. We have been conditioned to believe that finding calm requires sitting perfectly still and clearing our minds. Here is what usually happens with high-achieving, self-aware individuals. You sit down to meditate, and suddenly your mind is louder than ever. Your to-do list, worries, and inner critic all show up at once. Instead of feeling calm, you feel frustrated. A New Perspective on Stillness Let us clear up a major misconception: meditation is not about clearing your mind. Instead, meditation actually begins when your mind is already clear. You cannot use meditation to calm your mind; you use a calm mind to get into meditation. If your brain is busy when you sit down, you are just being human, because thinking is your brain’s job. Meditation is simply about awareness, not perfection. It is not something you force; it is something you allow. If traditional methods are not working for you, try these three practical ways to get into a flow state: * Nature: Go outside to walk, sit, and breathe. Let the outdoors center you. * Movement: Stretch, dance, and move your body. This helps you process what you are feeling instead of overthinking it. * Art: Try journaling or doodling to create something. This gives your intuition a way to speak. The goal is not to meditate perfectly. It is simply to create space so clarity can find you. Join Me In Person or Online For those of you local to Livingston, join me for free outdoor meditation sessions at the Oval gazebo. We focus on practical techniques and have open discussions to demystify the practice. Free Live Event: Join me on April 30th at 12 p.m. EST for a free live event: Demystifying Manifestation. aflevering Are You Absorbing Other People’s Energy? artwork

Are You Absorbing Other People’s Energy?

Recently, I had a conversation with friends about thrifting. We were talking about buying used clothes and wondering a very specific question: do you take on the energy of the people who wore those items before you? When I shared this online, the answers were completely split. Some people avoid thrift stores entirely to protect their peace. Others said they would happily wear clothes from a sister or a close friend, but maybe not a stranger. As an intuitive healer, I work closely with energy every day. So, is it true that we might absorb the vibes of the previous owner? Probably, yes. Here is why. The Reality of Energetic Exchanges Think about how you feel in different environments. When you walk into a spa with clean sheets, incense, and soft music, there is a specific, calming vibe. You feel at peace. Now contrast that with a loud rock concert. The energy is completely different, and you certainly would not go there to meditate. We take on energy from the things, places, and people around us. Have you ever walked into a room and instantly felt good? Or maybe you have met someone who is constantly complaining, and you felt completely drained after talking to them? The Glass of Water Analogy If you are highly susceptible to taking on other people’s vibes, you might have a leak in your aura. Imagine a clear glass of water. If you drop a tiny bit of black ink into it, the water might get a little muddy, but it will not turn completely dark. If your own energy is crystal clear, picking up a tiny bit of negativity will not impact you much. However, if your glass is already muddy and you surround yourself with people who constantly add dark ink, you will feel the effects heavily. You will find it much easier to take on other people’s heavy emotions, whether that is stress, grief, or anxiety. 5 Ways to Protect and Cleanse Your Energy If you often feel drained for no obvious reason, it is time to practice energetic hygiene. Here are five steps to keep your aura strong: * Check your own energy: Are you radiating uplifting vibes, or are you unintentionally putting out negativity? * Assess your environment: Pay attention to who you are hanging out with. If you are surrounded by heavy or toxic energy, you need to be extra cautious. * Create a protective shield: Before stepping into a crowded or draining environment, visualize a bubble of light wrapping around your body three times. Say to yourself, “I am putting on this protective shield of love and light to keep out any energy that does not serve me.” * Cleanse when you return: After giving a lot of yourself or returning from a heavy environment, cleanse your space. You can light sage, clear off a cluttered table, or simply wash your hands and face with the intention of washing away the day’s heaviness. * Trust your intuition: This is the most important step. If your gut tells you not to borrow a certain item or hang out with a specific person, listen to it. Your inner wisdom will never guide you wrong. We cannot avoid negative energy entirely; it is everywhere. But by raising our own vibration and taking steps to protect ourselves, we can stop feeling so drained and maintain our inner peace. Ready to align your energy? If you want to practice tuning into your intuition and keeping your vibration high, I would love for you to join me for a special gathering.
