Google is launching AI performance reports in Search Console. (This is huge) Google Search Console will soon have dedicated Search Generative AI performance reports that allow you to track how often your website’s pages appear as cited sources in AI-generated search results. This data was previously folded into aggregate organic search metrics, but it is now split into two specialized reports: one for Google Search (covering AI Mode and AI Overviews) and one for Google Discover. Because AI search fundamentally changes the traditional click-based measurement model, Google has rolled out these reports to provide clarity on how AI systems surface your content. Both the Search and Discover generative AI reports offer the following dimensions: * Impressions: How often URLs from your site were shown to users within generative AI features * Pages: The specific canonical URLs that the AI systems are successfully citing. * Countries: The geographical location where the search originated. * Devices: A breakdown of desktop, tablet, and mobile usage (Search report only). * Dates: Performance over time down to hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly intervals ⚠️ Important Limitations * No Click Data: At launch, these reports measure visibility only. They do not show click-through rate (CTR), the number of clicks, or average position. * No Query Data: You cannot see the exact search queries that triggered your appearance in AI Overviews. * Impression Counts: If two of your URLs appear in a single AI Mode response, Google counts it as one impression to reflect the user query rather than inflating the number of individual links. #answerengineoptimization #generativeEngineoptimization #searchengineoptimization #searchconsole #SEO
