Virginia Beach Police reported several notable incidents over the past week. According to 13News Now, on the night of June 10, Virginia Beach police responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the area of Florentine Way, near the Ocean Lakes neighborhood. Officers found an adult woman with a gunshot wound who was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is being investigated as an alleged homicide, and detectives from the homicide unit are handling the case. Police have not announced any arrests and report that the case remains under active investigation. Anyone with information is being asked by 13News Now to contact Virginia Beach Police or Crime Solvers. Virginia Beach Police also report an alleged reckless driving incident involving a modified electric dirt bike in the Princess Anne Plaza area earlier this week. According to a Virginia Beach Police Department news release, an officer attempted a traffic stop on an electric motorcycle reportedly traveling at high speeds and weaving through traffic. The operator allegedly fled from multiple officers, driving recklessly and failing to obey traffic signals. After a brief search of the area, officers located the bike and detained the operator. The rider was charged with alleged reckless driving, misdemeanor eluding, and multiple traffic-related offenses. The electric bike was seized as part of the investigation, which police state is now in a closed status with charges filed. VBPD reports that this case is associated with an internal case file; however, a public case number was not listed in the release. Local news outlets, including 13News Now and WTKR, also noted a broader pattern of alleged violent incidents in the Hampton Roads region during the week, but only one confirmed shooting investigation was publicly detailed in Virginia Beach itself. Virginia Beach Police social media posts further highlighted ongoing concerns regarding unpermitted street gatherings and vehicle meets, with officers warning that alleged reckless driving, burnouts, and street racing will result in enforcement actions and potential vehicle seizure. Those advisories did not reference specific incident case numbers but indicated that several recent enforcement efforts are ongoing and under continued investigation. Across these incidents, the most significant trend has been a focus on alleged reckless driving and vehicle-related offenses, alongside one major violent crime investigation involving a fatal shooting near Florentine Way. Police continue to emphasize community cooperation and request that anyone with information about recent criminal activity contact the Virginia Beach Police Department at 757-385-4377, or submit anonymous tips through Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or via the P3 Tips app. Thank you for tuning in, and please remember to subscribe.
