Voices of Greater Springfield
The Rosewood Show is returning on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 June, just in time for the beginning of the Queensland school holidays. In this interview, Rach D speaks with Mary Harms, Assistant Secretary and Chief Steward of Cooking for the Rosewood Show Society, about what visitors can expect from this year’s event. Mary takes us behind the scenes as the committee and volunteers prepare the showgrounds, pavilions and competition displays. They discuss the huge variety of show entries, including cooking, needlework, fine arts, leatherwork, woodwork, plants, produce, schoolwork, poultry, horses and cattle. Mary also shares details about the show’s family entertainment, including rides, sideshow alley, bull riding, dog jumping, line dancing, chainsaw carving, a reptile display, animal nursery and working sheepdog demonstration. The conversation also highlights the dedicated families and volunteers whose hard work keeps this much-loved country show running each year. Tickets are available at the gate, and anyone hoping to enter a competition should check the Rosewood Show Society website for individual closing dates.
