Namel is a bright and talented artist that became paralyzed as a teenager due to reckless behavior from his cousin, who was playing with a gun. After recovering, some years later, he partnered with another friend who also used a wheelchair due to gun violence, Ricardo. Together, they formed the rap duo 4Wheel City. The group has won a host of prestigious awards, forged powerful musical partnerships, and performed all around the nation-including at the White House- bringing awareness about violence and a message of peace and love to the masses. An active advocate against gun violence and towards accessibility for people with disabilities, Namel also works as a mentor for others that have experienced gun violence, is a founding member of RAMPD (Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities), and most recently, was awarded a voting member of the Grammys.  Learn more about 4Wheel City- www.4wheelcity.com

VPR Radio S8 Episode 4- Hip Hop Artist @mrwaterz of @4wheelcitygram and @rampd_up

Namel of 4 Wheel City- a hip hop duo celebrating diversity and inclusion for people with disabilities- stops by VPR Radio to chat with hosts Qianathegoddess and DJFmi. Namel shares his story on how he lost use of his legs at the age of 17 from a gun- by accident- and how he used this painful loss to inspire him to turn his life around and raise awareness about gun violence, especially for underserved youth. His music and performances have been seen on CNN, The White House, Paralympics, Revolt TV and many more and he's worked with some incredible mainstream artists, including Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg and Jadakiss- to name a few. Further, Namel is the Co-Founder of RAMPD, Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities, a global network of music professionals with a mission to amplify disability culture, promote inclusion, and advocate for accessibility within the Music Industry. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/vpr-radio/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/vpr-radio/support [https://anchor.fm/vpr-radio/support]
