Capable enough. Good enough. And sometimes we place that same burden on others. We expect people to earn our respect. Earn our acceptance. Earn our love. But the witness of scripture points us in a different direction. Paul reminds us that while we were still weak, while we were still far from who we were created to be, God’s love is already being poured out for us. (Romans 5:6-8) Not after we prove ourselves. Not after we get everything right. Not after we become worthy. But now. Love is not a reward for achievement. It is a gift. And the invitation is for us to freely give what we have freely received. We don’t need to prove ourselves worthy of love. And we can stop demanding others do so as well. I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. When We Feel The Weight of Responsibility

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2295449/fan_mail/new] When We Feel the Weight of Responsibility Sometimes we feel the full weight of our responsibilities. As the psalmist said, “I hold my life in my hand continually…” — from Psalm 119. But what made that weight bearable and those responsibilities manageable was that the psalmist never forgot their purpose—God’s law, as they put it. There is no escaping responsibility for our responsibilities. But when we remember that our deepest responsibility is to think, speak, and live in love… We find that we can carry all our other responsibilities more easily. I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you. #60SecondsofHope #DailyReflection #Encouragement #SpiritualEncouragement #SpiritualGrowth #Discipleship #DailyDevotion #DailyInspiration #Faith #Hope #FaithandLife #HopeForToday Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2295449/support]

When We’re Carrying Too Much

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2295449/fan_mail/new] When We’re Carrying Too Much Not everything we’re carrying belongs to us. Putting down what isn’t ours lets us move. “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” — Matthew 11:30. Some burdens— guilt, shame, regret… anger, bitterness, fear… other people’s expectations… excessive pride… These were never meant to travel with us. Dropping these dead weights allows us to carry the living ones more easily.
