There are many celebrity fashion brands out there. Jessica Simpson's eponymous brand was the first celebrity line to crack one billion dollars in sales. Draper James by Reese Witherspoon. I could go on and on. Then, of course, there are literally a million and one celebrity beauty brands. Name any female celebrity and they probably had a beauty brand. However, most of these brands use the celebrity as the face of the company, and the products they try to hock don’t really matter. It's really just a ploy to make money. But what about those select celebrities who were able to truly crossover into the fashion world, and truly make good products? Is that even possible? I explore that idea in this episode. dressherpodcast.com [https://dressherpodcast.com/] https://www.instagram.com/dressherpodcast/ [https://www.instagram.com/dressherpodcast/] Music By Alexiaction

Everyone is a mixture of both feminine and masculine energies. In the past couple of years, I feel as though feminine energy has been looked down on. With books coming out like Girl Boss or Lean In, females today are told to be a leader, be assertive, and take up more space. All qualities which I'm perfectly okay with, but what if you're just not built that way? What if you're more nurturing, soft-spoken, or intuitive? Why do women who lead with their femininity get harangued on and told to change their ways? I think females who have more feminine energy have just as good of a chance to succeed as those who are more masculine energy facing. Feminine energy is the world of Susie Cave and her brand, The Vampire's Wife. dressherpodcast.com [//dressherpodcast.com] https://www.instagram.com/dressherpodcast/ [https://www.instagram.com/dressherpodcast/] Music by Alexiaction

Fashion has always been obsessed with It Girls. The definition of an It Girl has evolved over time, but the same je ne sais quoi quality to them has remained the same. In this episode, I explore the life of Alexa Chung, fashion's ultimate It Girl, as a case study for the larger phenomenon. I break down how muses are related to fashion, how are It Girl are tied muses, and how muses fit into the larger feminist landscape.
