In this episode, William interviews the boys from BoomerangLoop - Ben and Jay. Ben (29) and Jermaine (33) are both Sydney based and originally come from the cold, bleak, North of England. They have undertaken a mammoth Physical task to raise awareness for Mental Health (something we need more than ever in our current climate) by cycling around Australia in 50 days for a total of 14,251KM - averaging approximately 280km per day. Both Ben and Jay have no cycling background and, for the most part, are new and unfamiliar with the sport. While fit and strong, both have primarily BodyBuilding/Powerlifting backgrounds where size and strength are the primary training objectives - a stark contrast to the high endurance nature of cycling and the task they have undertaken as untrained, novel cyclists. Throughout this episode, a range of topics are discussed from Jermaines experience growing up, as, in his own words, the only black kid in his neighbourhood, and how the effects of Racism impacted his life growing up in Northern England as a young/teenage boy and the effect this had - and still has - on his Mental Health. We also discuss how William & Jermaines involvement in the nightlife industry, as both DJs and Promoters, and the overbearing burden that social media plays in the industry now-a-days, with the constant need to be active to maintain a “presence” and stay “relevant” can take a detrimental toll on the psychological and physical well-being of both. The conversation progresses to discussing the prevalence of Suicide in the community and how this, having seen the soul crushing pain this leaves behind, has been one of the driving factors for Bens decision to embark on this monumental challenge of physical and mental fortitude. The discussion goes on to a three-way interchange from Ben, Jay and William about their backgrounds with BodyBuilding, and how the culture of “bigger, stronger, faster” and the constant need and desire to always be more muscular than before, impacted and distorted all 3 of their perceptions of themselves and their self-esteems. With such a focus now-a-days, through the advent of instagram, the impact that having the “right/ideal” physique has on Men (and Women) is huge and largely untouched in conversation and this segment, in particular, was an eye-opening insight into how this can deeply affect Men. The conversation draws to a close discussing Ben and Jays training, the difficulties they have faced so far since taking on this task in April 2021 when they began their training, the rejection and discouragement they have had from the naysayers, and how their willingness to complete this task and the importance of what they are undertaking outweighs anything else in their lives. In this episode, William interviews friend and fellow Irishman, Karl Finaly. Karl was born and bred in Belfast, Northern Ireland; a country which has been divided over religious conflict for many years. Karl recounts his experience growing up in Belfast, where much of the religious tension and conflict was most prevalent in the North, and shares how his experience of attending the first Integrated School (both Catholic and Protestant students in attendance) helped shape his perception and perspective of not only who he was, but how little the conflict and division of the opposing religions actually mattered once those barriers of separation and segregation were broken down. William and Karl go onto discuss their experiences of coming to Australia and the trials and tribulations both have faced since landing on these sandy, sunny shores; ranging from their experiences of doing the all dreaded and often times exploitative “farm work” and the hard manual and underpaid work this entailed, through to discovering oneself as a result of a violent assault.

In this episode, William interviews the creative and entrepreneurial power house, Monni aka Monni Music aka Monni Travels. Monni is a Danish Aussie, or, in her own words a “Daussie”. She dropped out of University to pursue her dream of running and owning her own Travel Agency and has had great success with her free spirited and mould breaking way of life. She is also a successful DJ, Singer/Song writer, Videographer, YouTuber and a generally, sustainably and astrologically minded online presence. Throughout this episode, Monni and William journey through a vast array of topics ranging from Mental Health, being sober as a DJ, following your calling in life and going with the flow, tapping into the energy of the universe that is present in and surrounds us all, sustainability and our connection to the earth, and the challenges and setbacks of stepping into the world as a entrepreneur and going off the beaten track. Overall, this episode proves insightful and engaging in many different areas with Monnis knowledge and passion for her topics shining through, and, an episode that we are sure to expand upon in future. In this episode, William interviews his University house mate and study partner, Cameron. Cameron is Healing Hearts main writer. He is a Psychology graduate, who has struggled with anxiety (particular social anxiety) most of his life, leading to many negative and unhealthy behaviour patterns and coping mechanisms. He is a Freelance Writer by trade, writing articles and blogs covering a vast array of topics, for a vast array of businesses online - but has a particular interest in Mental Health and Spirituality writings. Cammy has also written a book, “Embracing Discomfort: A Guide to Taming The Anxiety Beast”, having drawn deep inspiration from his own struggle and journey to bring this manifestation to life, and it has been published and via Amazon. Throughout this episode, Cammy and William reflect on their time living and studying together at Uni, and how both were completely oblivious to the others present and/or developing mental health issues - despite learning about the very things that were affecting both. The conversation progresses to Cameron sharing an insightful recounting of how his social anxiety made his life at university almost impossible, particularly when it came to exams or going to lectures, and being forced into these positions of mandatory interaction with others (a real eye opener for anyone who has never experienced anxiety or social anxiety to a detrimental and debilitating level). They go on to share the tools they have both utilised and called upon to control, release and manage their anxiety, reflecting on how far they have both came with their mental health since their early days at Uni. Finally, the conversation comes to a close hitting on Cammys career choice as a Freelance Writer, and the process of him taking the idea to write a book and bringing this idea into reality, ending in getting his work published. The conversation progresses to both William and Charlies experiences of studying Psychology at University, their relationship towards drugs, alcohol and the reasons behind their overindulgence and abuse of these commonly accepted substances at a younger age, and the further implications their time at University had on the respective well-beings of their Mental Health.
