In today's headlines: * Mason County Commissioners backed a $90,000 request to replace a failing courtroom recording system, with the item heading to the June 23rd action agenda. * The county's Noxious Weed Program is seeking a state grant of up to $5,000 to combat giant hogweed, false broom, and perennial pepperweed. * Public Health brought forward homeless service contract amendments covering Crossroads Housing, New Horizons Communities, Turning Point Survivor Advocacy Center, and the Youth Connection — all headed to June 23rd. * Building permits are down year over year — 558 issued so far in 2026 compared to 727 at this point last year. * Commissioners plan to hold a budget workshop within the next couple of weeks to address the county's reserve policy and fiscal direction. * State Route 3 remains closed in both directions near Sunny Slope Road through at least June 29th for a fish passage culvert replacement; signed detours are in place. * High near 75 today.
