This week on Let’s Go Green with Aisling O’Rourke on Midlands 103, I’m bringing you a special programme from the Mary Robinson Climate and Nature Conference, where some of the country’s leading voices came together to discuss the future of climate action in Ireland. I speak with Dr Karen Bacon of the University of Galway, Emma Donoghue, Manager of the Mary Robinson Centre, environmental campaigner Duncan Stewart, Alice Doyle, Deputy President of the Irish Farmers' Association and the organisation's first female Deputy President, and Molly Garvey of Neighbourhood and Community Gardens Ireland. Together, we explore the key themes emerging from the conference and the growing importance of collective action in tackling climate and nature challenges. I’m also joined by Gary Jones of Picker Pals, who explains how the programme is inspiring primary school children to care for their local environment by encouraging them to get outdoors, pick litter, and develop positive environmental habits from an early age. Finally, Louisa de Souza of Swoppy helps us tackle one of the most overlooked sources of waste in our homes, the drawer full of old mobile phones, cables and unused tech. If you've been meaning to do something with those forgotten devices, Louisa explains how you can recycle them responsibly and, in many cases, even earn some money from your unwanted technology. Tune in every Monday at 7 pm on Midlands 103, or listen back wherever you get your podcasts. Let's Go Green with Aisling O'Rourke is proudly sponsored by EirGrid Group.
