Today's podcast is on the Basics of understanding Cryptocurrency. This was an important topic for LifeStyled Club founders, Maggie and Helen, to speak about as the families in football are encouraged to save and invest their money wisely to help plan for their future. Professional footballers getting involved in various businesses and brands is nothing new, but when it comes to investing their money, the landscape seems to be changing and many footballers are now moving away from some of the more traditional investments and instead, turning to some of the latest ways to invest their money, such as Cryptocurrency. On this episode, guest Lisa Vanderheide, a Tax Director at Stewarts Law firm explained why everyone is going crypto crazy, how it all works and what are some of the pitfalls. Lisa also talks about NFTs, which seems to be the new trend in investing, particularly amongst footballers, and how HMRC are dealing with crypto gains. Losing a professional football career through injury is devastating to any player and their family, especially when it is through medical negligence. Today's guest is Charlotte Fryatt, wife of former professional footballer Matty Fryatt who previously played at clubs such as Leicester, Hull and Nottingham Forest.  After suffering from an Achilles injury, Matty claims he was pressured to play, causing the damage that ended his career prematurely. Charlotte opens up on the effect these situations have on footballers’ families and who they turned to for help and support.  Also joining in on our conversation is Barrington Atkins, a sports disputes lawyer at leading law firm Stewarts who represented Matty and Charlotte in a successful claim against his former club.  As well explaining why he advised Matty and Charlotte to take legal action, Barrington also talks to us about his thoughts on medical negligence and how mentally it can be just as damaging as the injury itself. This was such an important story to share, both Charlotte and Barrington hope their case will continue to raise awareness for player welfare and the duty of care owed by medical practitioners to footballers. On this episode, Helen and Maggie are joined by LifeStyled Club member Shauna Muamba. Nearly 10 years ago, Shauna watched her husband, Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba, collapse on the pitch 43 minutes after kick-off in the FA Cup tie between Bolton and Spurs. As the stadium fell silent and medical staff huddled around him, the match was abandoned, Fabrice’s heart had stopped beating. Shauna, his fiancée at the time, had to race down to London to be with him. Coming up, Shauna shares with us this traumatic time in her life and supporting Fabrice in his long road to recovery, and how it changed their family. She discusses the financial impact a career-ending injury had on their future, but how an insurance payout eased the blow. Through her own experience, she encourages friends in football to make sure they have a plan in place to protect them. This conversation is a great example of just how much the wives and partners play an important role throughout a players career, not only during times of success but when the unexpected happens too and how it only takes a few seconds to change a whole life and a whole career.  Shauna also chats to us about the amazing business she co-founded, ‘Land Of Decor’.
