S&P Futures are moving lower this morning as the latest tariff developments have markets on edge. Continuing changes in tariff policy is a negative factor for markets. President Trump announced that tariffs on Canada will be 35% effective August 1st. He also indicated that new tariffs on the European Union will be announced soon. A trade agreement with India remains in focus. Achieving trade deals with other nations has proven to be difficult for the Trump administration. Congress is set to vote on Crypto legislation next week. Air India investigators may release a preliminary report today. No major economic events are due out today. On the earnings front, LEVI is moving higher after an earnings beat last night.

S&P Futures are displaying modest weakness this morning. After the bell yesterday, President Trump announced that the U.S. will impose 50% tariffs on copper imports. In addition, he also declared that imports from Brazil will be hit with 50% tariffs. Both are schedule to start on August 1st. The key economic event today will be the release of the Weekly Jobless Claims. In corporate news Delta is trading higher after an earnings beat. Boeing shares continue to climb as the Air India investigation appears to be focused on fuel switches and not a design flaw.  Italian candy maker Ferrero appears to be nearing a deal to buy WK Kellogg for $3 billion. Costco released positive sales data for June and DLTR announced a large share buyback. After the bell today, WDFC & LEVI are set to report earnings.

S&P Futures are positive this morning as the market are anticipating announcement on trade deals. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and the Director of the White House National Economic Council Kevin Hassett are being discussed as the top candidates to succeed Jerome Powell as the next Fed Chair. Key economic event today will be the Fed's Meeting Minutes from last months fed meeting. Merck announced a deal to takeover VRNA. Boeing is higher on upbeat news related to plane deliveries. On the earning front, AZZ to release after the close today, tomorrow morning, SMPL, CAG & DAL are scheduled to release.

As a result, markets are expecting trade deals to be announced this week with India and the E.U. No major economic releases are due out today. Tech stocks are displaying positive action in the pre-market. On the earning front, Delta Air Lines, Conagra Brands, Levi Strauss, Simply Good Foods, PriceSmart, AZZ Inc., and WD-40 are expected to release this week.

The focus is on which countries will receive these notifications and what specific tariff rates will be imposed, as the administration’s 90-day pause on higher tariffs expires this week. President Trump will be hosting a state dinner tonight for Israel's Prime Minster this evening. Tesla shares are lower after Elon Musk said he had created a new political party.
