Poetry Podcast | Mera Shaher Mera Desh | Indu Sood | Pankaj Upadhayay | #hindipoetry #poetry In today's Poetry Podcast, I have the honour of reciting two precious jewels penned beautifully by the very gifted Mrs Indu Sood from Sydney Listen in: मेरा शहर मेरा देश ऊबड खाबड़ सड़कें टूटे फूटे footpath कहीं बस्ती वालों का उत्पात भीड़ भीड़ और आवाज़ें ही आवाज़ें लगता है मानो सारा शहर चल रहा है खिड़की के पास चाय पीने बैठो तो सुबह सुबह चिड़ियों के चहचहाने की आवाज़ें रद्दी वाला ,फल और सब्ज़ी वाला छन छन करता चाबीवाला ब्रेड ,अंडे और दूधवाला पेपर ,और चनाचूर वाला सब अपनी बिक्री के लिए निकल पड़ते हैं तेज रफ़्तार से चलती गाड़ियाँ हॉर्न पर हाथ रखें मोटरसाइकिल वाले स्कूलबस या रिक्शेवाले बच्चों को ले जाते हुए कुछ पहचानी शक्लें जो बूढ़ी हो गई हैं कुछ चंचल बच्चे जो अब बड़े हो गयें हैं कुछ अनजान चेहर जो शायद नए आए हैं हर तरफ़ बस शोर ही शोर सुबह सुबह चाय क़ी चुसकियाँ लेते लोग बाल्टी खड़काता नीबू चाय वाला पर इन अनगिनत आवाज़ों के बीच कुछ गहमागहमी कुछ अपनापन है कोई दीदी तो कोई बौदी पुकारता कोई दादा तो कोई दादा बाबू गंदगी के ढेर पर सोये कुत्ते आनंद की नींद लेते हुए माना कोई सफ़ायी नहीं है नाहीं है कोई अनुशासन जो भी है,पर है तो अपना अपना शहर ,अपना देश इन्दु सूद सिड्नी २०२३ …… अपना नशेमन अपना शहर अपना नशेमन अपना शहर अपना देश छोड़ आई हूँ हर सूं बिखरी यादों के हुजूम से कुछ यादें सूटकेस में भर कर ले आई हूँ कुछ बिखरी बिखरी सी छोड़ आयी हूँ कुछ को बक्सों में भर कर कबाड़ी ले गया बाक़ी रद्दी वाला बोरियों में भर कर ले गया चंद रुपयों की ख़ातिर उस अनमोल ख़ज़ाने की भला कोई क़ीमत है? कुछ ख़ुशनुमा से झांकते लम्हे अपने दिल की गहरायी में समेट लायी हूँ अशकों का समंदर आँखो में भर लायी हूँ जो दुखती रग को छू लेने भर से छलक कर बिखर जाते हैं बिछरने के दर्द ने मुझे जड़ कर दिया था क्या रखूँ क्या फेंकूँ कुछ भी समझ ना पायी थीं ज़िंदगी के इस रुख़ को कैसे स्वीकार करूँ ? कैसे निर्विकार हो कर अपना लूँ? बड़े नाज़ों से बनायी ग्रहस्थी बड़े प्यार से बनायी सजावटें कुछ सुने गुनगुनाते नग़मे कुछ खट्टे मीठे गीत कुछ ले आयी हूँ कुछ सिसकते हुए छोड़ आयी हूँ क्या करूँ क्या ना करूँ ? हिम्मत मिली पापा जी की ज़िंदगी से जो अपने आशियाने को सजा सजाया छोड़ आए थे नया आशियाना बनाया नएशहर में नयी ग्रहस्थी सजायी पेड़ के साये तले बैठी रोज़ हिम्मत जुटाती हू परदेस में बने इस घर को अपना बनाने के लिए नित नए जतन करती हूँ बच्चों के प्यार और अपनेपन मे वक्त के बवंडर में सब भूल जाना चाहती हूँ पर घर तो एक बार ही बनता है सोच कर फिर कमज़ोर पड़ जाती हूँ शायद मेरी ज़िंदगी में एक बार फिर बहार दस्तक दे नग़मे फिर गूंज उठें फुलवारी फिर महक उठे बदलाव ही तो ज़िंदगी की सच्चाई है ऐसा मान कर ही चलना होगा ........, अपना नशेमन अपना शहर अपना देश छोड़ आई हूँ हर सूं बिखरी यादों के हुजूम से कुछ यादें सूटकेस में भर कर ले आई हूँ इन्दु सूद सिड्नी २०२३ Director/ DOP/ Editor Euphony Films Sydney Australia ----------------------------------------------------- Review Euphony on social media: Film Profile: https://filmfreeway.com/PankajUpadhayay Radio Profile: https://anchor.fm/pankaj-upadhayay YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/c/EuphonyFilms Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/euphonyFilms Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/euphonyfilms/ Google: https://bit.ly/2Hmktyt Website: www.euphonyXpressions.com Pricing: http://bit.ly/3h0ImcM Fundraiser: https://gf.me/u/yz52p7 --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pankaj-upadhayay/message

Decoding "The Peripheral" | Roundtable with Novelist Meena Mahanty Kumar | Pankaj Upadhayay |  In conversation with Debut novelist Meena Mahanty Kumar, learning more about her motivations, inspiration, early life, process, challenges and future plans. I wish her the creative best going forward.  About the book:  'Travelling home on the 5.39 from Wynyard, Sydney based solicitor Rene freezes in her seat as she glances at the cover of a book another passenger is holding. Why does the title of the book spark off a series of nightmares and strange memories for her?  Rene, troubled, opens an old suitcase of her father’s, left untouched since his death.  Inside, Rene finds photographs of a young boy holding her as a baby, along with a poem, a half-knitted scarf, some toys, and a birth certificate.  To discover the truth behind what has so obviously been kept a secret, Rene must travel to India, the country of her birth, despite the distressing experiences she had during her last visit there.  Far away Nimesh has been living a lie, a life met with fear, hostility, often violence. Two seekers are on their own voyage of discovery. Will they find what they are looking for?  A migrant herself, author Meena Mahanty Kumar provides us endearing and thought-provoking glimpses of migrant life with its culture shock and the challenges that come from straddling two worlds.'  About the author:  Meena Mahanty Kumar, author of her debut novel The Peripheral, was born in India, moving to Australia in 1999. She was inspired to write the book after a chance encounter with a Kinnar living in a secret peripheral society, thus shaping one of her protagonists because of her burning desire to give them a voice. She believes that her background in Human Resource Management specialising in interpersonal behaviour from XLRI, Jamshedpur, helps her to dig deep into the motivations and thinking of her characters, at times humorous, sad, or quirky.  Currently, she is a conveyancing lawyer in Sydney. Half her life has been spent in India and half in Australia giving her an insider’s perspective of the immigrant experience.  For Meena writing is about creating art out of everyday experiences, providing a canvas for ordinary and memorable glimpses of human nature, to create something lasting, that touches people, maybe make a difference. Mainly though, she likes to write because she has stories to tell.
