Queerful is a podcast about the power of stories and the creativity of the LGBTQ+ community. Hosted by Benjamin Rose (they/them), each episode features ordinary humans who are changing the world in the most queerful ways. In this episode, Benjamin Rose interviews Melissa Faliveno (she/her/they) about writing practices, Wisconsin, and gender. Melissa Faliveno is the author of the debut essay collection TOMBOYLAND, named by NPR, New York Public Library, Oprah Magazine, and Electric Literature as a Best Book of 2020. Her essays and interviews have appeared in Esquire, Paris Review, Bitch, Ms. Magazine, and the Brooklyn Rail, among many others, and received a notable selection in Best American Essays. Born and raised in small-town Wisconsin, she is the 2020-21 Kenan Visiting Writer at UNC–Chapel Hill and lives in Brooklyn, New York.
