Seek Reality - Roberta Grimes

Our guest today is Peter Hays, and he is part of a very enjoyable summertime Seek Reality tradition! We help to promote the annual Spiritist event that is held in the United States at the end of the summer each year. Many people are familiar with Spiritualism, which is a 19th-century, spirits-based movement that originated and still is based in England. But Spiritism, which also began in the 19th century, is based in the teachings of Allen Kardec. And it is now robustly based in Brazil, but it also has become a fairly rapidly-growing spiritual movement in the United States as well. And the US Spiritist Federation is holding its 19th annual Spiritist Convention on September 20th, 2025, at Weber’s Boutique Hotel in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This one will be called The Evolution of Consciousness. And we are delighted to help them get the word out! This year, the US Spiritist Federation has sent us Peter Hays yet again, because we have so much enjoyed talking with him the last few times that he has been here. Peter Hays works at the Spiritist Group Love and Light in Newark, New Jersey. He is also the current Outreach Director of the United States Spiritist Federation, (USSF), and an active participant in the Tri-State Spiritist Federation (TSSF). Peter has published several children’s books with his wife, Beti Rozen, through their company, Sem Fronteiras Press, and with other publishers in Brazil, Colombia, and the U.S. Peter has an extensive background in theatre, and he holds a Master of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing from New York University. Our Seek Reality guest is Beau Williams, who knows how to begin his book with a bang! Beau was half of a lovely couple, and as One Year with My Soulmate begins, he tragically discovers that his beautiful young beloved, Melanie, has just shot herself in the chest with his shotgun. Oh my god! But fortunately, Beau’s engaging bookgets much better from there! Beau was born in Palo Alto, California, where he was a four-sports athlete in high school. He took a postgraduate year at Phillips Andover Academy in Massachusetts, where he first discovered his passion for acting and playwriting. He went on to attend the University of Colorado, where he played tight end, won a Big 12 Championship, and earned a degree in Communication. It was there that he took his first screenwriting course, and he began to write screenplays. Beau moved to Los Angeles in 2004 and became a writer and event producer, with experience in both film and live entertainment. In 2009, he founded Martin Entertainment Group, or (MEG), which has hosted thousands of events across Los Angeles’s beach communities. He wrote, produced, and starred in the feature film Americons, released in 2015, and later he licensed the rights to Bestival, producing Bestival Bali in Indonesia in 2017. Beau’s debut memoir is One Year with My Soulmate, which is the first book in his Sunflower Signals series. This book chronicles the transformative love story between Beau and his late partner, Melanie. It’s a journey through intimacy, grief, spiritual awakening, and post-loss reconnection. This book was written across four countries—Indonesia, the United States, Spain, and Northern Ireland—and guided by signs, synchronicities, and a deep commitment on Beau’s part to honouring Melanie’s life that was cut so short. In October of 2025, Beau will launch a new event in Bali that was inspired by Melanie, called The Butterfly Effect—a healing experience that incorporates the same breathwork, movement, writing, and spiritual practices that he used to help himself to recover from her loss. The wonderful afterlife expert Sandra Champlain is Roberta Grimes’s longtime personal friend, and she is our guest today on Seek Reality for the 19th time, this time to share with you a terrific new book about the afterlife sent to us from the afterlife. Sandra Champlain is an indispensable leader in the field of afterlife education. Her own great book, We Don’t Die, is the story of her personal trip from doubt to certainty after her father’s death. And now Sandra has made teaching everyone that we don’t die the central mission of the whole rest of her life! She guests frequently on George Noory’s poplar Coast to Coast, where she keeps the world up to date on the latest afterlife news. Our guest this week is unusual. Ali Crawford is her pen name, but we are happy to use it because she is protecting herself from the baddies in her family’s scary past. In Ali’s book, Heaven Help Us, she talks about her awful childhood, her son Jake’s visions, and the frightening things that she says happened to her family that were confrontations with dark and dangerous forces on both spiritual and physical planes. Those who are familiar with the Bible know that Jesus removed scary demons that had possessed people, and perhaps you thought those were metaphoric tales, and those demons were not real demons at all. Well, actually they were real, and such demonic creatures still do exist, although most modern people never encounter them because nearly every modern person’s spiritual vibrations are high enough that we can avoid them. “Shadow Men” are the most common very-low-vibration modern nasties that you might hear about, and there is a Shadow Man in Ali’s book. Fascinating! The more evil some being is, the lower it vibrates and the weaker it is. It has to feed on our fear in order for it to exist at all, so that is what these nasties do. They try to scare us in the dark, so always give young children a nightlight, especially if they are very afraid of the dark. If they are afraid of the dark, there may be a VERY good reason! If a Shadow Man latches onto a small child, he will sometimes try to cling to that person and be a problem for his whole life. Heaven Help Us is a fascinating book about how using spiritual good, which is God’s pure love, to fight spiritual evil, especially including religious evil, is going to be a winner, every time! Our guest today is Brian D. Smith, and he is with us for the third time. Brian has long been a spiritual seeker. He started out in the Pentecostal religious tradition, and later became part of an evangelical community. After that, he became a Christian Universalist. Then later on, he studied Buddhism and various mystical traditions. As a young man, Brian says that he was pretty deeply scarred by toxic religion, which, among other things, instilled in him an intense fear of death; but further study helped him to alleviate a lot of that fear. So Brian was living a beautiful life, with his lovely wife of now more than thirty years and his two young daughters. But then in June of 2015, his younger daughter, Shayna, unexpectedly transitioned in her sleep. She was not yet 16 years old.  After Shayna’s transition, Brian tells us that his spiritual quest intensified because of some extraordinary visions and messages that he was receiving from his daughter. As a result of those experiences, he immersed himself in researching the afterlife, taking a scientific as well as a spiritual and philosophical approach to it. He says that now he felt that he really needed to know, and not just believe, what was true about death and the afterlife. And he learned so much that he ended up writing a book.
