Surf Report - Tallahassee FL
Good morning! Here's your surf zone forecast for the Florida Panhandle beaches this Wednesday through Sunday. Starting with today, expect moderate rip current risk across the board with sunny skies and pleasant conditions. South Walton beaches like Sandestin and Santa Rosa Beach will see surf around one foot with highs in the mid eighties. Water temperature is a comfortable eighty two degrees. If you're heading to Panama City Beach or Magnolia Beach in the Coastal Bay area, you're looking at slightly choppier conditions with surf around two feet and highs in the upper eighties. Heat index values could reach one hundred two degrees, so stay hydrated out there. Over in the Coastal Gulf near Saint Joe Beach, it's a mixed bag with west facing beaches seeing around one foot while south facing and state park beaches get up to two feet. East winds around ten miles per hour will be transitioning to the southeast this afternoon across all areas. Now here's where things get interesting. Thursday marks a significant shift as rip current risk jumps to high across most locations. This is when increasing onshore flow really kicks in. Surf heights bump up to around two feet at South Walton and Panama City Beach, while the Coastal Bay and Gulf areas maintain that two foot range. Conditions remain sunny with southwest winds five to ten miles per hour. The water stays at eighty two degrees, but heat index values moderate slightly to around one hundred degrees at Panama City Beach. Looking ahead to Friday through the weekend, all areas will be under a high rip current risk, so exercise extreme caution if you're venturing into the surf zone. Friday brings sunny skies with surf around two feet at South Walton and the Gulf areas, bumping to three feet at Panama City Beach. West winds settle in around five to ten miles per hour. Saturday stays mostly sunny with similar conditions, though winds increase to around ten to fifteen miles per hour by Sunday. Sunday rounds out the extended outlook with mostly sunny skies and a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms developing. Highs remain consistent in the mid eighties across all areas, and winds continue from the west at ten to fifteen miles per hour. Remember, even though rip current risk is moderate today, life-threatening rip currents can occur around groins, jetties, reefs, and piers at any time. When the risk elevates to high Thursday into the weekend, those conditions become likely in the surf zone, so swimmers and waders should be especially vigilant. Have a great day at the beach!
