This is my first episode on my new podcast - Talking Life & Death. Here I share what prompted me to start the podcast and my journey through all things death and bereavement across the last 2 years. It's a small start, but I hope a positive one.  It has certainly helped me and I hope that it can help you in some way as part of your journey. For rights reasons, I can't play the music I refer to in the episode, but the details are below: You can subscribe to the podcast via your usual channels or follow me on Twitter @death_talking [https://twitter.com/death_talking] To find further resources, please visit my website at talkinglifeanddeath.com [www.talkinglifeanddeath.com] Thank's for listening.

episode Death of a parent - part II cover

Death of a parent - part II

This is the second part of episode 3 where I’m talking to my friend Claire about the death of her mum. In this episode Claire talks about the final few weeks of her mum’s life and her first experience of a hospice and the care and support that her mum and her family received there. She also talks about being honoured to be with her mum at the moment she died which is such an amazing account of a peaceful death. Claire refers to 2 songs that are particularly poignant to the memory of her mum: ‘Supermarket Flowers’ by Ed Sheerhan that was released around the time of her mum’s illness and subsequent death and is not only a beautiful song but one that really resonated with her and was played at her funeral. ‘Smile’ by Nat King Cole which was all about her mum’s wicked laugh and wonderful smile. Thank you so much to Claire for sharing your story so eloquently. For professional help and further resources please visit my website at www.talkinglifeanddeath.com [www.talkinglifeanddeath.com]
