I’m 5 hours into the future because I’m officially in LONDON: the land of water closets, lifts, grillled tomatoes for breakfast, tiny random jars of mayo and "ALUMINIUM." Oh and let's also talk about the 2025 Kia EV9’s lightning-fast sellout in the US. With over 22,000 units sold in 2024, driven by competitive pricing, federal tax credits, and upgrades like enhanced range, the Kia EV9 is killing it. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump signed resolutions on June 12, 2025, repealing California’s EV mandates, including an EPA waiver requiring 80% electric vehicle sales by 2035. Supported by automakers like GM, the move aims to ease industry burdens but faces backlash from California’s Governor Gavin Newsom, who plans a legal fight. Political strategist, NBC News Analyst and head honcho over at EVPolitics.org, Mike Murphy is BACK on the show to talk about the explosive feud between Elon Musk and President Donald Trump. Ignited by Trump’s spending bill that cut EV tax credits, Musk resigned from his White House advisory role and slammed the bill as a “disgusting abomination.” We explore whether this “Galactic Hissyfit,” as Murphy termed it on X, is a policy dispute or an ego clash, and analyze Trump’s threats to slash Tesla’s subsidies and SpaceX contracts, which triggered a 14% Tesla stock drop and a 5% rebound.
