The Rephidim Project
A Bible Study on Ephesians [https://www.rephidimproject.org/hp_wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Ephesians-artwork-square-300x300.jpg] In Episode 17 of our Ephesians series, we turn to Ephesians 2:11-13, where the apostle Paul addresses one of the deepest human struggles: alienation, from God and from one another. After explaining our salvation by grace in Ephesians 2:1-10, Paul now calls believers to remember. Remember what we once were so that we can rightly appreciate what we now are in Christ. Before Christ, we were separated, excluded, without hope, and without God in the world. But now, through the blood of Christ, those who were far off have been brought near. This passage reminds us that Christianity is not merely a change in behavior, but a transformation of belonging. In Christ, we move from the outside to the inside, from isolation to community, from distance to nearness, from alienation to reconciliation. In this episode, you’ll learn: * Why remembering our former condition deepens gratitude for salvation * How sin produces both spiritual isolation and relational hostility * What Paul means by being “far off” and “brought near” * Why the church is meant to embody Christ‑created community * How the blood of Christ secures both forgiveness and belonging Ephesians 2:11-13 calls believers to humility, gratitude, and a renewed appreciation for what Christ has accomplished. When we remember what we once were, we learn to live thankfully in what we now are, in Christ. About Pastor David Christensen (Th.M., D.Min.)
