R.B.E. (Danielle and M.K.’s Theme)
This very special Styles Report is dedicated to my one and only @wiseredowl as we celebrate 10 years of marriage and a lucky 13 years together.
Back in 2012, I wrote a song for her as part of my marriage proposal. Peppered with lyrical and sonic references to our time together, the main theme of the track is love's resilience and perseverance overcoming life's peaks and valleys, trials, tribulations and adversities. Stress over work, school, parenting, adulting, various struggles and even our own egos and stubbornness would threaten to divide us...but through the highs and lows, we've always stayed together.
It's a lovely sentiment. However, the actual song, not so much. It was mostly me singing in and out of key over a painstakingly constructed Fruity Loops beat, mouse click by mouse click. (I'll spare you from hearing the original to avoid the mass follower exodus).
So to celebrate our anniversary, I enlisted the help of the immensely talented singer/songwriter Natalie Joly to finally do the song and message justice with a fresh, professionally produced arrangement. The result is simply amazing. (Thank you Natalie, #saluteandrespect)
I'm not usually a scream my adoration from the rooftops kind of guy, but what the hell, it's the big Tin anniversary. So, to the mother of my children, my best friend, and my biggest supporter in all things, I say this:
I love you Hunnybun. You are, and ever remain, my life, my love and my wife. Love, Pook.
