On the third of February, two days after she was reported missing, an FBI special agent stood at a press conference in Tucson beside Sheriff Chris Nanos. The Reuters report saying none of the ransom notes were genuine, contradicted publicly by FBI Phoenix a day later. A retired FBI agent who says there is genuine disagreement inside the Bureau about whether the evidence is even real. The plane Patel wanted credit for. The doorbell footage he wanted credit for. The glove that flew to Florida and back before anyone ran it. The partial DNA profile that cannot be run at all.
