This week, we delve into tough subjects: empathy, psychopathy and Tory’s latest publicity stunt, all the way down to some of the ways we encounter toxic friendships. We asked ourselves big questions, leading up to discussing our values when dealing with people we care about - including how we want to show up for ourselves ! This week, we touched on weekly insights from Verszus with Brandy and Monica and to the genius Justin Bieber video feature in the new DJ Khaled and Drake single: “POPSTAR” - but we also got deep ! Today, we talked about body image and growing up in an African household that policed young girls and women’s bodies heavily. This was inspired by an article put out by Fariha Róisín (Twitter: @fariharoisin) titled “On Sex & Islam: The complications of being sexual and a person of faith” which led us to unravel our experiences. We also talk a bit about dating, rejection and building confidence. On todays episode we discuss toxic parenting and the side effects of trauma bonding friendships & the lack of equality in regards to what we expect from women as opposed to the bare minimum that is accepted by men.
