Working Sober
Today’s episode is with Jennifer Salzman, a sober coach who supports late diagnosed ADHD adults who are self-medicating with alcohol and other unhealthy habits. When Jennifer was diagnosed with adult ADHD in her 40s she realized that she had spent more than 20 years self-medicating her symptoms with alcohol. Drinking was the easiest and fastest way to shut off the constant chatter in her brain. She also discovered that alcohol abuse among people with ADHD is much more common than it is in people without the condition. Jennifer now coaches others to help them find freedom from alcohol, gain a new outlook on life, and improve their relationship with themselves and their neurodivergent brains. We talk about: - The drinking culture that exists in large cities - Drinking to cope with being overstimulated - Self medicating to manage undiagnosed ADHD - Quitting drinking vs “doing the work” - Getting sober during the pandemic - Existing in the world as a non-drinker - Getting out of our own way to change our relationship with alcohol - Nutrition as a sobriety and ADHD tool -Why we love the TikTok sober community Connect with Jennifer Instagram & TikTok: @rebelwithoutadrink Website [https://amightyrebel.com/] Join us over on our Substack at workingsober.substack.com [http://workingsober.substack.com]!
