Acerca de 7 Laws

World-renowned egyptologist Miroslav Bárta and CNN presenter Michal Půr analyse developments in the world. Bárta is the author of the breakthrough theory of the Seven Laws, which can be used to evaluate historical events and judge whether a civilization is in decline or flourishing. One of the lessons is that the collapse of civilization does not necessarily mean catastrophe and may instead be a purifying process. Don't become depressed about world developments and come with us to find hope in historical context.

#10: The enigma of the oldest pyramid in history

According to ancient Egyptian legends, it was Imhotep (his name can be translated as “he who comes in peace”), who invented building in stone at the beginning of the Third Dynasty (around 2650 BC). This corresponds with the spreading of monumental stone architecture during the reign of Khasekhemwy, the last king of the Second Dynasty, who was Djoser’s predecessor on the throne and his father. The Egyptians themselves had drawn a bolt division line between the Second and Third Dynasty. Based on what we know about Egypt at this time, there is every reason to believe that this perspective was justified. The era of King Djoser and notably of Imhotep marked a completely new period, which can be characterised by an incredible rise in the complexity of the Old Kingdom state and the beginning of construction of the monumental pyramids. #9: Draghi’s view of Europe in the next period

A few days ago, the so-called Draghi report on the state of the European Union and its competitiveness outlook was published in Brussels. The two-volume opus consists of: The future of European competitiveness and In-depth analysis and recommendations. The report gives a realistic and saddening picture of where the European Union stands today in terms of the economy, geopolitics, innovation, the welfare state, the Green Deal and renewables. But there is no sign that the situation is improving. The report highlights energy prices in the EU that are nowhere near competitive with the rest of the world. While the price of electricity is almost 2-3 times higher in Europe compared to the US, natural gas prices are 4-5 times higher... For the EU to have its own Musk or Jobs is simply virtually impossible under the circumstances. #8: Samuel Huntington and the clash of civilizations

The study of civilizations and how they work is a fascinating topic that is constantly evolving. The 1990s were, among other things, marked by the intellectual impact of a 1993 article in Foreign Affairs entitled "The Clash of Civilizations?" The author was the American political scientist Samuel P. Huntington. He elaborated on his theory and published it as a book in 1996 entitled The Clash of Civilizations. In it, he argued in particular that after the fall of the Iron Curtain, the interfaces of civilization defined mainly by religion would be the sites of major conflicts. How does his theory correspond to events in the contemporary world? You will find out in today's episode.
