Welcome to Boog Club! We are starting Part 3 of Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Do you have to sometimes go alone or cut others off to achieve greatness? Could it be you need to do that so one can feel the achievement rather than it being handed to them. But you also need others to achieve things since you cannot do everything alone. This bleeds into connections and relationships. To achieve greatness, these things take time which you must take away from spending time with people. Where do we view this balancing act and how do you want to handle your allocation of time? But to improve and grow, it seems that one must go through hardships. For Zarathustra, he actively seeks out that suffering. Join us, as we talk about the different routes one takes to cause suffering about himself and differentiate between the good and bad routes. Thus Spoke Zarathustra - Chapters 34-44

After a long respite, the boys come back together to finish Part 2 of Thus Spoke Zarathustra. We start off with Zarathustra hitting on a basic principle of life: human hierarchy. There are those who obey and those who command. Listen as we take a deeper dive into both of these role and how they fit into life, contrasting the two and recognizing you can be both. Boog Club also sees Zarathustra advising us to not be so tensed up and continue to be joyful. We delve into this idea and how it relates to falling deep into existential thought or into misery due to the terrible aspects of the world. Lastly we discuss the limitation of Will; the Will’s prisoner. How does this prison that surrounds Will affect us as people? We talk about how this manifests into negative emotions and approaches to take to avoid these feelings. Boog club begins the second part of Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Zarathustra comes back out of solitude to re-iterate his wisdom. We discuss ideas revolving around doing good and people’s perspective of your deeds. The boys weld that into the dangers and pitfalls of doing actions out of the scope of your relationship or pity. Zarathustra sees not taking enjoyment out of life as the “original sin.” What does he mean by that and how does this action make it a “sin?” We the explore how people’s feelings play such a large role in who they are as a person and how it makes them treats. Another perspective we begin to see is going through pain to help others enjoy their lives. Finally, join us as we re-visit values. We compare what seems to be the paradox of staying open minded and holding strong / true to your beliefs. Thus Spoke Zarathustra - Chapters 9-22

For this episode, we try out a new format! Rather than just discussing the ideas throughout the book, we do speed rounds on each chapter. We were each given a set amount of chapter to introduce and then we all discuss it within 4 minutes. However, if there are some chapters we are just really wanting to talk about then we can use a double time to add 4 minutes! Let us know what you think about this new format in the comments! Thus Spoke Zarathustra - Prologue & Chapters 1-8

Boog Club officially starts their series on Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche. Firstly, we see that Nietzsche looks for those who bring about the Superman. We see this definition from someone who is powerful and follows their own values, but willing to put others before themselves. Join us to hear more details on the character and definition of Nietzsche’s bringer whom goes through the three stages of the soul. People tend to not listen to other’s advice since that means they admit to having faults. People need to be confident in their faults so they can improve. If they are not and just follow what is considered “good” blindly then they are mere believers rather than companions. We discuss what the difference between believers and companions are and how it is seen in our lives. Later on, we see how, in Zarathustra’s eyes, everyone’s beliefs and perceptions project into their relations with higher powers. However, we see that it is important to not follow a faith for personal, selfish goals and reasons but rather doing it due to their pure belief in it. To Nietzsche, he looks pass this in finding someone who creates and fines their own values, creation beyond themselves.
