About GenX Are We Adults Yet?

Gen X, Are We Adults Yet? - A Podcast For All Generations Hi, I am Jason, and I’m Greg. We are Gen X and welcome to our podcast! We are the last generation to grow up without internet, or computers. We are the last generation that played outside all day, until the street lights came on. We watched cartoons on Saturday mornings, while reading the cereal box during commercials. We didn’t have cell phones in our pockets, we shared one house phone. Growing up over the last thirty plus years we have learned a few things about life, raising kids, losing family, managing money, having a professional career, self care, and much much more. Each episode we talk about our experiences as Gen X’ers, Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s and how our lives have been influenced and shaped today. We are now hitting our 50’s and we are still wondering, Are We Adults Yet?

Gen X Kids - I was in a teen age band!

🎸 I Was In A Teen Age Band 🎤 Before careers, mortgages, and aching backs... there were garages, cheap amps, borrowed drum kits, and dreams of making it big. This week, we're joined by fellow Gen X musicians who started bands as teenagers. From punk and thrash metal to garage rock and hardcore, we'll hear the stories behind the first gigs, battle of the bands, loading gear into mom's station wagon, terrible promoters, broken strings, dive bars, and the friendships that lasted a lifetime. Some of our guests hung up their instruments years ago. Others are still playing today. Whether you were on stage, in the pit, or just the kid wearing the concert shirt, this episode is a trip back to a time when all you needed was three chords, a garage, and a dream. Live Thursday at 7 PM.

episode Gen X Being The New Kid artwork

Gen X Being The New Kid

Was it hard being the new kid? For some people, absolutely. The night before school they're laying awake wondering what to wear, whether they'll fit in, whether they're going to get lost, or worse... whether something embarrassing is going to happen in front of the entire school on Day One. Me? I wasn't that kid. I made friends pretty easily and usually found myself floating between more than one group. Mostly jocks and stoners. Then eventually just stoners. Being the new kid was pretty simple for me. All I had to do was find the smoking section. Now before anybody freaks out, this was the 80s. Every school had unofficial gathering places. You knew exactly where the smokers hung out, where the skaters hung out, where the athletes hung out, where the troublemakers hung out. Schools had social maps long before GPS. The funny thing about being the new kid is that everybody experiences the same school completely differently. For some kids, it was terrifying. For others, it was an opportunity. Nobody knew your reputation. Nobody knew your mistakes. Nobody knew who you dated, what you looked like last year, or whether you were cool or not. You got a fresh start. The question is... what did you do with it? Were you terrified? Were you excited? Did you reinvent yourself? Or did you spend the first week trying not to throw up in the cafeteria? Tonight we're talking about being the new kid, the longest walk in school history, finding your people, surviving lunch, and whether changing schools was the worst thing that ever happened to you... or the best thing.

Will You Go With Me? Gen X Dating Wasn't Easy

This week on Gen X, Are We Adults Yet?, we're walking through the complete life cycle of Gen X dating—from the first crush to the first heartbreak. Before texting, social media, and dating apps, relationships started with real courage and real risk. First, you had a crush. Then came the investigation: Does she already have a boyfriend? Who does she like? Who are her friends? Do I even have a chance? If things looked promising, the next mission was getting her phone number. Then came the call. Not a text. Not a DM. An actual phone call to her house, where her dad, mom, or annoying little brother might answer first. Then came the hangouts: Teen night Bowling alleys Football games Pizza parlors Arcades The mall Eventually, if you survived all that, you worked up the nerve to ask the ultimate Gen X question: "Will you go with me?" From there, we're covering it all: First dates First kisses First base Long-term high school relationships Gossip Rumors Cheating Breakups Friend zones Public humiliation And how the entire school somehow knew your business by lunch the next day Dating wasn't easier back then. It was awkward. It was terrifying. It was exciting. It was real. Join us as we revisit the victories, the disasters, the heartbreaks, and the unforgettable moments that made Gen X dating an experience no app could ever recreate. Because before swiping right... There was only one question that mattered: "Will you go with me?"
