Widows Bay Season 1 on Apple TV is my favorite show of the year so far, blending horror, comedy, mystery, and small-town weirdness into one of the most entertaining and original series of 2026.
In this Widow's Bay Season 1 review, I'm sharing why this horror-comedy completely won me over. From the show's eerie atmosphere and supernatural mysteries to its sharp humor and unforgettable characters, Widow's Bay consistently surprised me from episode to episode.
And then there's Patricia (Kate O'Flynn). Patricia quickly became one of my favorite TV characters of the year. Quirky, weird, unpredictable, and endlessly entertaining, she brings a unique energy to every scene and perfectly captures the show's offbeat charm.

Widow’s Bay is a quaint island town 40 miles off the coast of New England. But something lurks beneath the surface. Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling community. There’s no Wi-Fi, spotty cellular reception and he must contend with superstitious locals who believe their island is cursed. He wants these people to respect him. They don’t. They think he is soft and cowardly. And he is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination. Miraculously, he succeeds: tourists are finally coming.
Unfortunately, the locals were right. After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true, start happening again. Widow’s Bay blends genuine horror with character-driven comedy. The comedy-horror series was created by writer and producer Katie Dippold (Parks and Recreation) . She also serves as the showrunner and an executive producer.
The producing team features several other notable figures. Hiro Murai serves as a primary director and executive producer. Matthew Rhys stars as the mayor and also serves as an executive producer.
