Portada del episodio Benzodiazepine-Induced Neurological Dysfunction BIND

Benzodiazepine-Induced Neurological Dysfunction BIND

You followed every instruction. You tapered carefully. You trusted the process. And now you feel worse—not better. If that's your story, this episode was made for you. In this solo episode, I break down Benzodiazepine-Induced Neurological Dysfunction (BIND), a cluster of neurological symptoms that can persist for months or even years after stopping benzodiazepines—even when the medication was taken exactly as prescribed. As a Neurology Nurse Practitioner, I've worked with people who felt completely blindsided by what happened after discontinuing these medications. Many were told they should be feeling better by now. Instead, they found themselves struggling with anxiety, cognitive fog, sensory overload, insomnia, memory issues, and symptoms that seemed impossible to explain. The good news? There is a neurological explanation for what you're experiencing. In this episode, you'll learn: • What BIND is and how it differs from acute benzodiazepine withdrawal • The role of GABA-A receptors and why your nervous system can feel stuck in overdrive • How glutamate excitatory rebound contributes to symptoms like anxiety, insomnia, panic, and sensory sensitivity • Why recovery is often nonlinear and what realistic healing timelines look like • Four practical, nervous-system-aware tools you can begin using today • Why moments of calm, clarity, and relief are evidence that your brain is adapting and healing We'll also discuss emerging research, including findings showing that many individuals report symptoms lasting a year or longer after discontinuation, highlighting the importance of understanding the long-term neurological effects of benzodiazepines. Most importantly, this episode offers a different perspective: Your symptoms are real. Your experience is valid. And what you're going through has a name. This episode is for educational purposes only and should not replace personalized medical care. Please work with a qualified healthcare professional regarding your individual treatment decisions. Wealth Shame and Private Practice: An IFS Therapist's Story

Most healers were taught that caring and earning don't belong in the same sentence. In this powerful conversation, I sit down with registered hypnotherapist and IFS-informed business strategist Eugene Bazzen to unpack the hidden beliefs that keep therapists, coaches, and helping professionals stuck, burned out, and underpaid. Eugene's story is anything but conventional. Born in Moscow with a cleft palate, he became a clinical psychologist serving the deaf community before immigrating to the United States. After spending a decade as a senior iOS developer at companies like Amazon, T-Mobile, and Nordstrom, he walked away from a successful tech career to build a thriving hypnotherapy practice and help other healers create profitable, values-aligned businesses. Together, we explore the psychology of wealth shame, the subconscious roots of impostor syndrome, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and why so many brilliant clinicians struggle to charge what they're worth. In this episode, you'll discover: * What Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is and how different parts of you may be influencing your business decisions * Why therapists and helping professionals often feel guilty about making money * How hypnotherapy can help rewire subconscious beliefs and impostor syndrome * Lessons Eugene learned from 10 years in tech that transformed the way he approaches private practice growth * Why traditional marketing strategies are no longer enough for therapists * The mindset shift that can change how you approach business, healing, and personal growth Whether you're a therapist, coach, healthcare professional, entrepreneur, or someone navigating your own relationship with worthiness and success, this conversation offers practical insights and a refreshing perspective on what it means to build a meaningful life and career.
