SOS Sides of the Spectrum — Oops My Brain Wrote Poetry — Episode 50

In this very special episode, our very own Ms. Judith decides to flip the script and take over the mic for a fun "reverse episode!" She shines the spotlight on Aiden and his brand new published book, Oops My Brain Wrote Poetry — a gorgeous collection of poems and hand-painted artwork that comes straight from his heart. Aiden opens up about what inspired him to write it, how painting and poetry go hand in hand for him, and why he wanted anyone who has ever felt different to pick it up and know they are not alone. He also gets real about his journey — the tough moments, the growth, and everything in between. It was such a beautiful conversation! Grab a copy on Amazon or come meet Aiden at Indigo Erin Mills Town Center in Mississauga on May 15th from 5 to 8 p.m.! Our podcast series, Sides of the Spectrum, addresses what it's like living with autism, ADHD and anxiety for an exuberant teen and a self-diagnosed adult. What goes on behind the scenes of the spectrum? What works and what doesn't? Who is who and why does it matter?

SOS Sides of the Spectrum — Interview with Jagadish and Archana — Episode 49

Hey everyone and welcome to SOS. Sides of the Spectrum. I am your host Aiden Lee and this is a podcast about real stories, real people, and real life on the spectrum. Autism Awareness Day is April 2 and I wanted to jump start the celebrations the only way I know how. With art. I know what you are thinking. Aiden and art. Here we go again. And yes. Here we go again. Because for those of you who know me, art is not just something I do. It is my drive. It is my purpose. It is how I communicate with the world. And it is how I want to bring creative opportunities to kids everywhere so they can throw their emotions onto a canvas. Express what they feel with colour and texture and shape. Let it all out in a way that words sometimes just cannot do. Today on SOS I have two very special guests. One of them was actually my student in a neurodivergent art class. His name is Jagadish and he is here with his copilot Archana.

SOS Sides of the Spectrum - Interview with Reverend Sue Ann - Episode 48

In this episode of SOS Sides of the Spectrum, I get to hang out with Reverend Sue Ann Ward from the Church of the Incarnation in Oakville. Sue Ann is awesome, funny, kind, and full of heart. She opens up about her path into ministry, the little daily practices that keep her grounded, and how much she loves creating spaces where everyone feels welcome. We dive into some big stuff too, like what it really means to live out peace and forgiveness, how meditation and creativity can calm the chaos, and why compassion is the secret sauce for real connection. Sue Ann also reminds us that love shows up in many different ways, and no matter what it looks like, every person is already precious and perfect just as they are. And yes, there are laughs. We even get into a playful chat about sermons told through pizza toppings. This conversation is both thoughtful and fun, and it left me feeling lighter. At the end of the day, Sue Ann shows us that choosing compassion helps create a world where everyone belongs.
