Matt Klinman is a comedy writer (The Onion, Funny or Die, Adult Swim), Ethan Strauss is a sports writer (The Athletic, ESPN). They are two long-time friends who started their careers on the internet but keep finding themselves having conversations about how the digital world has become increasingly cancerous, bleak, centralized and lame. Is Facebook destroying the internet? Is Twitter destroying politics? Is Instagram destroying children? Is this false dichotomy destroying rational arguments? Whatever is going on, Matt and Ethan have found they keep talking about Tech vs Media and in ways they haven't really heard anyone else: like (somewhat) normal people would. Or at least how people who care about comedy and/or sports would. So that's what we are recording and releasing in an attempt to get other people to also start having these same conversations... before it's too late?

We're talking tech (what should a post-twitter social network look like? what is up with this new one Post? what is amazing about Gab!) we're talking sports (is it a liberal psy-op??) and we're talking I dunno other shit. It's the first Syncing Up for like a year and there is no explanation for the gap! Soak it up pals!

Matt gives his solution to the Facebook Crisis and Ethan "Substack" Strauss fishes for compliments AND GETS THEM!!! Its just the kind of jam packed episode our now long dead fans have been clamoring for!!
The Great Deplatforming has occurred and Matt and Ethan can't help but argue about it. Can Matt convince Ethan this is actually good for BOTH SIDES of the argument? Can Ethan convince Matt he's an unwitting pawn in a neoliberal cabal? Will they finally solve everything or is all this just a futile expression of ashkenazi interruption culture?
The boys take a tour of the HOTTEST new social networks on the planet Gab and Parler. Plus they argue about censorship and argue even more about tech's impact on the 2020 election. As President Obama would say "Stop The Steal!"
Twitter and Facebook block a story and become the editors we've known they are all along! Antitrust is on the ballot! And Matt and Ethan get into it over the whole NBA Finals ratings thing! The boys are back and give no discernible explanation for being gone for so long nor do they give any explanation for the cadence of new episodes in the future! It's a new Syncing Up!!
