episode The Foundations of Liberty: Exploring the Judeo-Christian Ethics as a Cornerstone of Freedom with Isaac Ludmir artwork

The Foundations of Liberty: Exploring the Judeo-Christian Ethics as a Cornerstone of Freedom with Isaac Ludmir

"Liberty is found in a nation that has its own soul, that does not bow to the will of a foreign conqueror." - Isaac Ludmir   Episode Summary: In this episode of Taproot, we have the privilege of hosting Isaac Ludmir, an esteemed rabbi and historian. Isaac, Marshall, and Todd delve deep into the heart of the Judeo-Christian ethics, elucidating how it has served as a cornerstone for the concept of liberty. Isaac aptly highlights that the very essence of liberty emanates from a divine source, with its foundation rooted in a combination of law and a communal bond shared among members of a nation.  The insights extend to intriguing concepts such as a nation without a state and a state without a nation. He masterfully uncovers the complexities of these ideas, imparting an enriching perspective on their significance in the broader context of governance and societal structure. Listen to the episode to uncover the timeless principles that illuminate the path to a more perfect union.   In today's episode: * Judeo-Christian ethic and its role in human liberty * Where does liberty come from? * Good laws are essential for maintaining a free nation and are based on love and liberty. * A nation is a body of people obedient to the same law, while a state is a means of organizing a nation for the enforcement of the law. * A nation without a state refers to a group of people who share a common law but do not have a centralized governing body. * A state without a nation refers to a governing body that enforces laws but does not have a unified group of people obedient to the same law. * Can a system be built on the laws of nature without religious belief? About Isaac Ludmir: Isaac Ludmir, formerly of Israel and New York, now of Los Angeles CA, graduated the Open University of Israel 2018, ordained rabbi 2016, attended the Bar Ilan General History Graduate program 2018-19.
