I hope to make more episodes in the near future! The reservation system was meant to have lands accommodating the original land and lifestyle of First Nations people, but that has not been fulfilled throughout history. Reservations include a painful history of broken promises, stolen lands, and limited help. The Lakota people inhabit 6 reservations in South Dakota, and they struggle with many issues including substance abuse, poverty, and economic issues. I hope to make more episodes in the near future! The Sun Dance was an amazing part of Lakota history and tradition and it is a shame that it cannot be practiced, exactly to tradition, now. The Lakota people had a deep connection with the Wakan Tanka, the Earth and their ancestors, which made the Sun Dance extremely significant. I think that the Sun Dance was a testament to the virtually unbreakable spirit of the Lakota people- and many other First Nations Tribes. Unfortunately, much of the traditions and history of the First Nation's people are being lost to globalization and the cultural removal endured by the Lakota in the early 20th century. But not all hope is lost! Sharing and listening to this podcast and enabling this history to be shared and those stories to be forgotten is a very good way for you to help! "Kill The Indian, Save The Man"

In this episode, I discuss the ethnocide experienced by the Lakota, and other indigenous Americans, during the "Kill The Indian, Save The Man" movement of the late 19th- early 20th centuries. I also take a closer look at the creation of boarding schools and assimilation programs and how those operated and how they adversely impacted the Indigenous Americans. It's been over 1 1/2 years since I've made an episode for this podcast, but I hope to make more in the near future! The issues discussed in this podcast are important and must not be forgotten. These ethnocide programs were ethically wrong and the events that went on at many of these programs were terrible to the future of the Lakota culture. While this issue affected more Indigenous Americans then just the Lakota, so it is important to understand the broader scope of this issue. While "Kill The Indian, Save The Man" was not a success, many of these nations and their cultures still need help! And sharing and listening to this podcast and not allowing those stories to be forgotten is a very good way for you to help! Justice For All- Fort Laramie Treaties & Cases

In this episode, I take a deep dive into the court cases that decided key issues between the United States and the Fort Laramie treaty and how this document is still very relevant for the justice of the Lakota people today.  Hi friends, and thank you so much for listening to this podcast! It's been a while since I have made one, but I really hope that you all enjoy this kind of part 2 to the episode "From Fort Laramie In 1851 To The Courts In 2020" and since there was much happening since the making of that podcast it was only necessary to dive back into this one. If you like this podcast please please SHARE it to a friend or someone else you think would enjoy it! A basic overview of this podcast is that I talk about and discuss the legal battles of the Sioux Nation in their quest for justice and I also discuss the Fort Laramie Treaty and how it came to be. I also discuss the legal battle of the Keystone Pipeline. I hope that all of you enjoy this episode and I'll try to make more soon about the Black Hills! Go Check Out The Following Links!
