Acerca de The Body Pod

Welcome to the Body Pod! On this show hosts (and sisters!) Alayna and Justine tell the stories of real people and their relationship with food and their bodies. So many people have histories with dieting and disordered eating, and thankfully so many people have also had an a-ha moment that has led them away from diet culture and towards body love and food freedom. This podcast's goal is to share these stories, showing that no matter where you are on your journey, you are not alone. Tune in to hear interviews and deep-dive discussions every other Tuesday.

This was one of the overarching topics in all of our interviews this season. We discuss our honest opinions about the desire to lose weight after intuitive eating, and how the desire for weight loss has affected us personally. We touch on the Health at Every Size (HAES) movement and the difference between Body Positivity and having radical self acceptance. We go deep into our own experiences with working on accepting our bodies in their current states, and talk about how to foster an attitude of self love and acceptance that benefits your mental health and happiness. Wait, so what do we actually do with Intuitive Eating?

Description: *Trigger warning: This podcast contains talk of past diets, numbers related to food and weight, and descriptions of eating disorder behaviors and disordered eating. This may be triggering for some so please listen with discretion. This episode is all about the popular, but ever-confusing concept of Intuitive Eating: what it is, where it comes from, and how we implement the steps and concepts in our daily lives. By walking through the 10 principles outlined in the book “Intuitive Eating: A Revolutionary Program that Works,” we share what each principle means to us, how we do (and don’t) use them, and how everyone’s approach to this can look completely different. We also touch on our views of health at every size, body size work, what hunger means to us and the idea of gentle nutrition.
