The Padres Cling To First As Big Brother Lurks

Dodgers reporters Jack Harris and Dylan Hernandez are joined by their boss, California Post Sports Editor Ryan Kostecka, who is unfortunately a Padres fan and here to gloat after their 1-0 win to open the series. Los Angeles and San Diego have a lot in common besides each having 29 wins, and that includes aging, struggling superstars. For the Dodgers, however, there is hope with Shohei Ohtani starting to come out of his slump.  And Jack makes a strong case that the Padres’ success has been good for the Dodgers.  Kostecka offers a Padres fan’s perspective on the Dodgers and painfully recalls the two times they most crushed his heart.  On their latest Dodgers podcast, the guys get into their weekly analysis of Roki Sasaki, and what they saw from Shohei in San Diego. And finally, it’s trivia time and both were able to stump each other.

Time To Hit The Panic Button

California Post’s Dodgers reporters Jack Harris and Dylan Hernandez are at Dodgers Stadium and hitting the panic button after the team’s 9-3 loss to the Giants. Going back to April 21, the Dodgers are 25th in batting, hitting 11% below league average, raising concerns that this sort of slump could also happen in the post-season.  In their Dodgers podcast, Dylan and Jack call out the struggles of Shohei Ohtani, who has 4 hits in his last 38 at-bats. The guys watched the superstar hit a ball out of the stadium in batting practice, then go 0-5 against San Francisco. The guys, of course, talk Roki Sasaki again, but are not quite ready to nickname him the Roki-coaster.  Jack and Dylan then check receipts on their predictions from the week prior, and they are struggling just as much as the Dodgers. Dylan nails his Does Dylan Know The Dodgers question, but Jack is not as lucky with Dylan’s greatest reporting hits.

The Dodgers Have A Shohei Dilemma

California Post’s Dodgers reporters Jack Harris and Dylan Hernandez take the mics after Los Angeles’ 8-3 win over Houston to open the series. The Dodgers’ 8 runs is their best offensive performance in a few weeks, however one player is still slumping at the plate. Despite taking 55 swings at batting practice before the game, Shohei Ohtani went hit-less and the superstar is now 0-17 with no hits in the previous five games, his worst stretch in his time with the Dodgers. The National League Pitcher of the Month for April will take the mound in Game 2 against the Astros, but will not be hitting, going back on earlier plans. This has the hosts of our Dodgers podcast begging the question: Would the team be better off with Shohei only pitching?  The guys also discuss whether Roki Sasaki should be sent to the minor leagues, and why Justin Wrobleski is pitching too well to return to the bullpen. Jack puts on his reporter’s hat to reveal the origin of Dalton Rushing’s dropkick celebration, before the return of favorite segments: Does Dylan Know the Dodgers, and Why We Hate Your City. Orel Hershiser gets a reference, and Bill Kaplan earns an RIP shoutout.
