The Grange Podcast: Episode 014 Rod Fogle

Welcome to “The Grange Podcast,” where we strive to rekindlethe spirit of community and belonging. Our mission is simple yet profound: tofoster transparent communication and share valuable information that brings uscloser together. Join us as we explore stories, insights, and conversations withthe intent of building a stronger, more connected community, one episode at atime. Today, my guest is Rod Fogle. Rod is a husband, father, pilot, avid outdoorsman, and, along with his wife Sue, owner of Fogle Pump andSupply.  During our conversation, we discussedRod’s personal history, including his family's legacy in the car dealershipbusiness, his start in entrepreneurship, partnerships along the way, and many storiesand insights from owning Fogle Pump and Supply for the last 44 years. I wasbeyond excited when Rod agreed to come on the podcast, and I am grateful forthe conversation we had. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did recordingit. During our conversation, Rod mentioned that his Grandfather'sfirst car dealership was located in the old Odd Fellows building in Colville, which is now where Café Italiano is. Neither of us was familiar with the originsof the Odd Fellows, so I did a little research last night and this is what Ifound: The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) Colville LodgeNo. 109 was founded in 1891 and built its first lodge building in 1897. Thefirst leader was Robert E. Lee, a prominent local businessman and former mayor. The IOOF itself is a fraternal organization founded in 1819 to provide socialsupport and charity, with a focus on visiting the sick, relieving thedistressed, and burying the dead. I couldn’t find when the Colville chapter ofthe Odd Fellows was dissolved, but I find these old chapters —such as the OddFellows, Elks, JCs, Lions Club, etc. —fascinating and often wonder why thesegroups became obsolete. Maybe its time to get something going again! If you find value in our conversation, please help spreadthe word by sharing this podcast with a friend.
