In this episode, Danielle and Christen discuss how they both became fed up with their "un-health" and describe the paths that drove them to wellness through functional medicine—including the aha moments that set that shift in motion. They also share with their listeners their health "basics," in other words the non-negotiables as part of their changed lifestyle. They swap new therapist stories. Danielle teaches Christen about the difference between glass balls and rubber balls, and they both identity that during this period they're needing to prioritize certain parts of their life above others for balance in the long term.

Live Hard: More than a diet, more than a fad

In this episode, Danielle and Christen talk about #75Hard and the Live Hard program again...which should come as no surprise to those who follow them and listen to the podcast. Christen shares her secrets on how she keeps up with drinking a gallon of water and what motivates her to take those 5-minute cold showers! Danielle fills us in on how she's structuring her time better, and the "additional" task in Phase 3 that is challenging her the most. They also explain why they don't "fall off the wagon" between phases of the program, and offer perspective on the importance of discipline.

Can we really have it all?

Women are often told that they can't have it all, that they have to choose a label and align their lives accordingly. There is also often shame and guilt associated with the identities and roles that we choose (and opt out of) as women. Danielle and Christen believe that we can have it all but that everyone's version of "having it all" is different. In this episode, they discuss what having it all means to them, why they believe it's an important system of believe, and how that plays out in life. They wrestle with the concept of hustling, the need for tough choices, and the knowledge that just because a life of our choosing is fulfilling that doesn't mean it's going to be easier.

Danielle and Christen have both completed 75 Hard and are now engaging in the year-long Live Hard program. Today, they're sharing their 75 Hard stories, including the troubling circumstances that caused them both to start and how they stuck with it even when they really (REALLY!) didn't want to—even on the day Danielle lost a loved one and the day Christen cried into her yoga mat at midnight in her courtyard in the rain. And they answer listener questions such as, "How do you keep up the outside workout part in bad weather?" and "What do you wish you had known before starting that you know now?"
