18. Max Lewis

Angel Fernandez, AKA "Max Lewis". Despite being friends with many current and former athletes, he isn't one. So why is Ange---Max on the podcast? Max went from employee at his father's Miami-based propane business to owner, to entrepreneurial visionary; eventually turning his company for a $37 million dollar sale at the age of 36. After finding success in real estate ventures following the sale (more of a hobby and passion than a business), Max decided to isolate himself for the better part of 2 years and focus on documenting his life challenges, failures, and successes in the form of a book, "Who is Max Lewis?", a unique blend of personal memoir, practical guide, and interactive workbook. Taking the step to redefine himself personally and professionally, especially at a point when many would cash in their chips and sail off into the sunset, gets him immediately qualified to serve as a valued guest on the podcast. The man oozes simplicity, logical reasoning, and emotional intelligence, as does his writing style. I left the session feeling inspired, humbled, and eager to sell my Rolex. Enjoy.

Portada del episodio 17. Eric Dungy

17. Eric Dungy

>| Episode 17. Eric Dungy. Former football player at the University of Oregon and The University of South Florida. Son of legendary NFL coach, Tony Dungy. Sports and Entertainment specialist for Compass Realty. Enjoyable human. Throw away your preconceived notions about what you think Eric Dungy may be. Mine were gone from the second we introduced ourselves. Speaking with Eric was an enlightening experience for me as Eric was easily one of the most down to earth, socially aware, appreciative, and easy-going people I've spoken with. Tremendous credit to his parents for how they raised him and his friends for keeping him grounded. In this episode, we learn about how Eric's exposure to world-class leadership through coaching and parenting set the standard for his professional endeavors. We hear how his first exposure to the "corporate lifestyle" made him feel like he was living someone else's life, and how he was able to leverage his personal network for a better opportunity that fit his personality, connections, and innate skillsets to lead to a much more fulfilling career path. Portada del episodio 16. David Fales | Guided by The Most Interesting Man You've Never Heard About

16. David Fales | Guided by The Most Interesting Man You've Never Heard About

If you want a lesson about the importance of a mentor in your life (at any phase), listen to this episode David Fales went from two-star recruit out of Salinas, California, receiving only one scholarship offer from The University of Nevada out of high school – to a 2 time all WAC conference,  Military Bowl MVP and 6th round NFL draft pick out of San Jose State. David went on to have a 5 year NFL career – spending time with Bears, Ravens Dolphins, Lions, and Jets. I think a cumulative total of “half” the episode is spent talking about David’s “oracle “ – like soundboard, supporter, and mentor, Peter Goodson. In the beginning, we disuss the importance of how others see us as a foundation for our own beliefs about ourselves during our developmental years. As we talk about David’s transition out of sport, and into software sales, it becomes starkly apparent that his current belief in himself and continued relationship with his mentor, still guide the principles by which he chooses to live his life every day. Warning - there is also some gnarly, unedited content discussing the graphic nature of a urethroplasty procedure David underwent during his second year in the NFL. Really wild stuff. Anyways... Enjoy..

Portada del episodio 15. Lou Collier | I Am Enough

15. Lou Collier | I Am Enough

There was no other outcome for Lou Collier besides becoming a Major League Baseball player. Growing up in the South Side of Chicago (the actual South Side of Chicago), his childhood was filled with opportunities to veer off path. Lou was drafted twice before finally deciding he was ready to compete at a professional level - an unbelievable testament to self awareness and patience. Lou went on to play 9 years in the big leagues before recognizing it was time to retire and transition into the next phase of his life. Having lived a life dedicated solely to the sport he loved, the attempt to pivot into another career path proved challenging for him and his family. Lou recognized the strengths he had in leadership and and baseball intelligence and ultimately started the Lou Collier Baseball Association, using competitive baseball to teach players character traits of dedication, hard work, sportsmanship, teamwork, integrity, confidence, and self worth. Lou was also recently added to Team USA’s coaching staff for the 2023 World Baseball Classic along with Mark DeRosa, Ken Griffey, Jr., Jerry Manuel, Andy Pettitte, Dino Ebel, Dave Righetti. Enjoy.
