Spurred by the lack of Black history instruction that his sons received in grammar school, Freddie knew the onus was on him to create a new narrative of Black culture, and in 2009, UI was born. Initially, UI was an online hub of Black media that now boasts over one million Facebook fans, a mobile app and its own social media network. Today, the company has several products, including the renowned Black History Flashcards. Dr. Tamara Beckford is a board-certified emergency physician who attended medical school in Newark, New Jersey and trained in emergency medicine in Philadelphia. With over a decade of experience working in emergency rooms in Houston and Philadelphia, Dr. Beckford has seen it all. Dr. Beckford has treated heart attacks, strokes, gunshot wounds, mended broken bones, and even delivered babies. Most recently, Dr. Beckford has been on the frontlines battling the surge of COVID-19 in our community.  Dr. Beckford is the founder and CEO of UR Caring Docs, which is a telemedicine urgent care.
