Remember, food is not just fuel; it is information. The food you eat also affects your mindset, stress, and emotions. Stress has a direct effect on blood sugar, so managing stress is managing diabetes. Know that your diagnosis is a redirection, not a life sentence. Today, we are celebrating something extraordinary: the incredible growth of the plant-forward lifestyle from 2010 all the way to today. 2010 is an important year for me because on July 2, 2010, I was diagnosed with a second cancer in a very different part of my body from the first diagnosis in 2003. For me to perform research and see just how far the plant-forward changes have come from then to now amazes me. It was 15 years ago, and resources have increased, awareness has increased, food choices have improved, healthcare has advanced, and now helps a variety of cancers. In addition, the market has improved what is now being created from plants, more restaurants carry at least one plant-based dish, and social media is exploding with helpful yet sometimes disinformation. It is now expected to find a vegan food festival in places that one would not expect, and not just in the U.S, but worldwide. Plus, more people are becoming emotionally connected with the planet and are choosing to eat plants. Today, more celebrities, athletes, and influencers proudly live the plant-forward lifestyle.
