Honoring the best films of 2023, ‘Oppenheimer’ leads the nominations list with an astounding 13 nominations. ‘Poor Things’ & ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ follow closely with 11 and 10 nominations respectively. With the cultural phenomenon of “Barbenheimer,” films ‘Barbie’ & ‘Oppenheimer’ will compete against one another in six categories, most notably Best Picture. This year’s nominations list had its fair share of shocking snubs and history-making records. Particularly, Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig were passed over in their respective categories for Best Actress and Best Director. Meanwhile, Lily Gladstone made Oscars history with her performance in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ as the first Native American woman to be nominated for best actress.
