9 episodesWelcome to season two, episode two of the Transformational Scholar podcast. In this episode, I had the wonderful opportunity to talk with Shimel McDonell. Shimel and I engaged in a conversation about this past year and a half, spirituality, self-inquiry, and mental health. Shimel grew up in the Bronx, where he learned a lot about who he wanted to be. Shimel introduces us to CLEAR (Consciousness, Life/Love, Energy, Awareness, and Responsibility), which he believes can help people better understand who they are and can be. I want to thank all of our listeners and subscribers. Please share this podcast with anyone who you believe could benefit from listening to this conservation. I pivoted from my usual public educational dialogue around social-emotional learning, character traits, and physical wellness to engage in a personal and educational conversation around pregnancy loss, miscarriages, and infertility. As someone who has experienced a loss, I promised myself that I would take this tragedy and use it to help others one day. There is a saying that I used to have displayed in my classroom, and one that I would often tell my students, and that is, "Knowledge is Power." In this episode, I had the wonderful opportunity to talk with the highly successful home and lifestyle leader on YouTube, Brittany Vasseur. Brittany has more than 1.4 million followers on YouTube and over 192,000 followers on Instagram. We are two women who share a similar story, and the hope is that we can help other women out there by discussing our stories. Listen to this episode to find out about the book we believe changed our storms to our rainbows. I want to thank all the listeners and subscribers of the Transformational Scholar podcast. Please share this podcast with anyone who you believe could benefit from listening to our conversation. I had the pleasure of talking with Ben Steuerwalt. Ben works in the physical education department as an administrative intern within an urban school district in New York. He spent the bulk of his career teaching physical education at the elementary level, where he worked diligently on various wellness initiatives in his school community. During this episode, we discuss the importance of overall wellness for children and adults. We focus on strategies that adults, educators, and children can do to stay active, increase healthy eating choices, and improved mental wellbeing. In this episode of Transformational Scholar, Missy Biviano and I team up to talk about World Kindness Day taking place on November 13, 2020. We give ideas on how adults and children can implement random acts of kindness, not only on this day but any day throughout the year. If you choose to complete a random act of kindness on November 13, please tag us on Instagram, mention us on Twitter, or share your story with us on Facebook. We would love to hear from you! I had the honor of having Dr. Daria Willis, President of Everett Community College in Everett, Washington, on the podcast. She is Everett Community College's first African American female president. Our conversation focused on physical and mental health for ourselves and others and current actions and initiatives on campus around racial and social justice. We closed out the episode by talking about our work as leaders together in Syracuse City. This conversation could be beneficial to you or your organizations when thinking about making your local communities a better place. Once again, I thank the listeners. You all are the reason I am doing this podcast.
