35 episodesAs entrepreneurs, running a business can require us to push ourselves to the point of burnout. There is so much pressure around running a business that we don’t always realize how hard we are pushing ourselves until it’s too late. In 2017, I attended a women’s empowerment retreat in Costa Rica with Tish Steenkamp in Costa Rica that had a profound effect on my life an entrepreneurial journey. After working with Tish I lost 40 pounds and learned to prioritize my health and happiness. This spring as I went through some transitions in my life and business, I decided to return to Costa Rica and attend a private retreat Tish where I underwent a digital detox, cleanse and energy work so that I could recover from burnout. The main culprit: adrenal fatigue. In this episode we discuss: How a juice and water cleanse gives your digestive systems a rest and boosts your energy. Why sleeping is a powerful form of self-care. Why we get addicted to stress and how to break the cycle. How to create space for healing even as part of your daily life How to connect with your moon cycle and get into flow Signs you might be experiencing burnout Why travel and retreats aide your healing and rewire your brain.
There’s no doubt about it, taking creative risks can be downright scary—especially when your livelihood depends on it. In this week’s episode Miami-based singer and songwriter Keba Williams shares how she built a profitable career in the performing arts and the shifts she made along the way to align with her purpose. In this episode we discuss: What goes on behind the scenes of building a full-time creative career Not being afraid to say no to others and yes to yourself Gigging for exposure vs. owning your value How undercharging hurts your clients and overall performance Charging enough to thrive, not just to survive. Creating space in your business for high-level creative work Choosing side hustles that grow you
Do you find yourself answering e-mails before you even step foot out of bed? Or if you can't go a few minutes without checking your Instagram feed, it might be time to consider going on a digital detox. In this episode, Lacey McLaughlin shares her experience going on a 5-day digital detox in Costa Rica and tips for how you can do the same to reset and shift your priorities. In this episode, Lacey shares: What to do when realignment feels like failure How to get off the hustle hamster wheel How to give yourself time + space to step into a new chapter How to take time off and shut off your phone How social media takes up brain space and cuts us off from our intuition The importance of cleansing and detoxing from caffeine, sugar and processed foods
If you’re struggling to make money with your creative business, personal development can be a game changer for getting unstuck. In today’s episode, Michelle Ivette Gomez dispells the myth that artists have to struggle financially to do what they love. By learning to value herself, set boundaries and accept failure as feedback, Michelle now helps women artists turn into artpreneurs so they too can do what they love. As the Founder & Creative Director of Creative Unions Event Design LLC, the first event planning company dedicated to integrating contemporary art into life’s celebrations, Michelle views marriage celebrations as specially curated art exhibitions that bring people together to celebrate and express unique love stories. After having founded her own successful art business, she serves as a Launch Strategist for Womxn identifying Artists wanting to launch their own art businesses by coaching her clients on business strategy and emotional intelligence so they too can do what they love (and get paid for it). On Today’s episode we are discussing: Why Failure is Feedback for the Next Step Course correcting vs. giving up How to level-up relationships & find support How to go all in when it feels scary Why alignment often takes several iterations Honoring your boundaries in work and life How to get results by being consistent How to tap into your creativity by scheduling a weekly date with yourself How to be heart-driven instead of ego-driven
Sometimes success can create blind spots that ultimately pave the way toward failure. Whether it’s red flags in a business partnership or some kinks we haven’t quite worked out in our business model, sometimes failure is inevitable even when all signs point toward success. On today’s podcast, Thomas Luginbill shares how his first venture, a solar panel installation company, ended with a failed partnership and lawsuit after years of rapid growth. As the Director of Entrepreneur & Innovation at the College of Southern Maryland, Thomas now shares what he’s learned throughout his entrepreneur journey so that his students can avoid similar mistakes. In today’s episode, we’re covering: Why it’s easy to overlook problems when you're making money The pitfalls of growing too big too fast What to do when a business partnership ends in dispute How life after failure can be liberating Why not asking for help is a form of arrogance
