Mehr Wine, Weed, Weird!
Join Emily (and her vape), and Kyla (and her wine glass) for a minimally edited exploration of songs, movies, and shows that leave us with a lot more questions than answers. It’s basically a night with your besties without you needing to put on pants, or participate in the conversation! Have I mentioned we’re really funny?
Fireworks and Blood are Very Different (it's about Leprechaun
Emily and Ky want their gold!!!!! But they don't have green blood! They're back from the Bush, and they're not beating around it either as they continue to unspool the plot of this wild 1990 horror movie. Ok they do spend a good ten minutes discussing nudity as a lifestyle, but they do also explain the leprechaun's hobbies and passions, and reminisce about past episodes!
What a Storied Career (it's about Leprechaun)
Join Emily and ky for a spacey episode about an equally spacey villain in a movie they mostly compare to a porno. Meet Old Irish Man, and Old Irish Woman, who we only get to know for about five minutes before she's dead. Then, meet Baby Jennifer Anniston, Hunky Handy Man, Precocious Child, and...Ozzie. Emily and Ky explore confusing family relationships, misplaced tarantulas, and a guy who doesn't seem to know anything about cats before having to commit their own act of villainy: leaving early to meet their friend at the Bush. Don't worry, they'll get to part two next week!
Neapolitan's Evil Twin (it's about "Banana Split for my Baby"
Emily has emerged from Moving Hell (barely, temporarily) just in time for Ky and her to get an episode out on a sweet song featuring multiple bad choices, a very lopsided order, and sixteen tons of nuts. At least, it's a little bit about that. It's a lot about circus instructor stress, a surprise thunder storm, and how Emily's cats are taking the chaos. Make yourself a sundae and tune in! You'll never guess the name of Ky's favorite ice cream flavor!
Our Personal Portal Problems (it's about Scruff McGruff)
This week, Emily and Ky discuss a possibly autistic detective dog take the teeny tiniest, frankly disappointingly small, bite out of crime. Their quest for good bullying advice continues, but at least they know what to do if they find a gun at their friend's house. To be clear, child abuse isn't funny, but then bullying isn't either. What is funny is the seemingly endless out-of-touch attempts by adults to advise kids on how to handle these issues. Emily and Ky are still only endorsing one tip: just do a kip up! Maybe it'll put you in the major leagues? Please excuse our audio while we grow into our new microphones, courtesy of our sponsor, Teddy!
Why Did You Install Rocket Feet? (it's about Astro Boy)
Honestly, there was exactly one scene in this one that Emily and Ky knew they needed to discuss, but it turns out Astro Boy is fertile ground for discussion! Emily and Ky dig into old depictions of the future, the nature of old cartoons, tragedy vs. comedy, good vs. bad parenting, trauma, vocabulary, how robots work, the singularity, how other cultures perceive robots, exploitation, how to fix the timeline, and of course...the scene you gotta see to believe. Get on youtube and look up Astro Boy episode one! Like Ky, you will audibly gasp.
