« Yeewu » signifie littéralement « se réveiller », par référence à l’acte de sortir du sommeil. Le mouvement « Yeewu » est composé de personnes patriotes et donc naturellement intéressées par la situation du Sénégal, sur les plans politiques, socio-économiques et religieuses. Ses membres sont issus de différents secteurs et abordent des thèmes variés, sensibles mais importants à traiter pour quiconque rêve d’une prise de conscience collective de nos valeurs. L’objectif ici est de « réveiller » les êtres, éveiller les consciences d’un sommeil profond, semblable au coma, qui a engendré un comportement de spectateur, et non d’acteur, face à des événements qui nous touchent et qui se produisent à côté de nous. « Yeewu » est un mouvement de conscientisation auquel tout le monde peut adhérer en apportant une réflexion, peut importe l’âge, le sexe, le lieu d’habitation ou encore la « catégorie sociale ».
